On Father’s Day, we gather to honour and give thanks for the fathers in our lives. We recognize the love, strength, and guidance they provide to their families.

We thank you for the gift of fatherhood, for the fathers who have nurtured and protected us, who have taught us valuable lessons, and who have been our pillars of support.

Bless all fathers, both those who are with us today and those who have gone before us. Grant them wisdom to lead their families with love and compassion, and the courage to face life's challenges with grace.

We also remember fathers who may be going through difficult times, those who are separated from their families, and those who are no longer with us. May your comfort and strength be with them, and may they find peace and healing in your presence.

Lord, we ask for your guidance as we seek to honour and appreciate our fathers today and every day. Help us to show our love and gratitude through our words and actions.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

What a wonderful turn out of Dad’s, Stepdads, and father figures we saw last Friday at our Father’s Day breakfast. It was wonderful to see the turn out of so many along with their children. Thank you to the wonderful staff of St Brigid’s who joined us on the day serving breakfast it really is a team effort. The power point that Mr Morrison put together along with music was awesome. Thank you to Mr Peter Constable our outstanding grounds man for cooking up a storm on the BBQ. Mrs Stephanie Butler with her team always ensure we have all the supplies we need. Once again thank you so much for joining us on the day to celebrate all you do for your children.

The Year Three Assembly was fantastic it really highlighted the wonderful job our dad’s do for us. The power point was beautiful and really let us see the special men in our lives that belong to our community.

What an awesome raffle we saw last Friday. Our hard-working P & F as always held an amazing raffle tailored for dad’s. We had so many wonderful donations that enabled this raffle to be awe inspiring event. 33 prizes were given out to our community and were very well received. Well done ladies!

Last Wednesday our team participated in the Orienteering WA Primary Championships. A number of students having been working with Mr Sam Harris our sports teacher and they were chosen for their orienteering skills. When they participated last week, they made us very proud by winning the championships. They were up against much larger schools but managed to bring home the trophy. Our students always make us proud of their achievements and the way they encourage each other is brilliant to watch. Congratulations to our team and thank you for the wonderful support of Sam Harris, teachers, and parents.

Our choir performed at the Performing Arts Festival in September, and I thoroughly enjoyed their performance as did the adjudicator this week they let us know that the choir received a merit certificate for their performance on the day. This is a wonderful effort for the time our choir has practiced. A big thank you to our students as well as our Choir mistresses Mrs Yeo (Semester Two) and Miss Mitchell (Semester One).

The Creative Edge Problem Solving Challenge is an innovative educational competition providing students with motivating challenges that will develop both critical and creative thinking skills. The focus on 21st Century skills gives students a unique opportunity to showcase their abilities to adapt to the changing world around them.

Our students along with their teacher Mr Alison Yeo attended the challenge and performed very well on the day. It is wonderful to see our students perform with other schools in the area. Mrs yeo prepares our students and assists them in their journey. Well done everyone.

Last Thursday we held our St Brigid’s feast Day and what a superb day it was. We began with our Feast Day Mass with Father Rodrigo. It was wonderful to see so many parents join us at Mass. Then preparations were made for market day which I know our children love. Thank you to the staff and parents for your assistance with this day by providing the resources for the stalls. It was great to see some of our parents helping on the trash and treasure stall. The children were fabulous on the day and a big thankyou to our Year Six students for helping our Pre-Primary children enjoy the day. Lastly, we finished with fun activities for the afternoon. The day was brilliant, and we raised $3,251.80, this money will be going out to the four charities we support each year

The duty of care by parents before school is essential in creating a supportive foundation for a child’s educational journey. By fulfilling these responsibilities, parents contribute to their child’s physical and emotional well-being, readiness for learning, and overall success in school.

Leaving a child unattended before school can indeed lead to various problems. It is important for parent and caregivers to prioritise the safety and well being of their children during the period before school.

Three suggestions are to stay with your child until the gates open and ensure they are supervised or to place your child in Helping Hands which is a before and after school program that runs at St Brigid’s. Or to arrive at school at 8.30am when the gates open.

Fathers are the cornerstones of our families, providing unwavering support, love, and guidance. They teach us life's most valuable lessons and offer a steady hand to hold onto in times of uncertainty. Their influence can shape our character and help us become the best versions of ourselves.

Fathers are our heroes, our protectors, and our cheerleaders. They celebrate our victories and offer comfort in our defeats. The importance of fathers cannot be overstated, as they help lay the foundation for our lives.

Stepfathers, often unsung heroes, enter our lives with open hearts. They embrace the complexities of blended families and bring stability to the mix. Their willingness to love and care for children who may not share their bloodline is a testament to their selflessness.

Stepfathers build bridges of understanding and offer acceptance. They demonstrate that love knows no bounds, showing that family is defined by love and connection, not just biology.

We also honour those fathers who are no longer with us. Their legacies live on in our memories and the lessons they imparted. They continue to influence our lives, reminding us of the values and traditions they instilled.

The memories of our fathers and their enduring impact are a source of comfort and inspiration. We carry their wisdom, love, and stories forward, ensuring that their spirit lives on in the generations that follow.

Last Sunday we celebrated Father's Day, let us celebrate fathers, stepfathers, and the cherished memories of those who have passed on. Their roles, past and present, shape our lives and leave an indelible mark on our hearts. They remind us that love and family are among life's greatest blessings.

St Brigid’s Primary School will continue to do a school bulk order for all classroom stationery items for the 2024 school year. The bulk order for 2024 will not be covered by the school as it was in 2023. This was a once off only. Each family will be sent a separate invoice with the specific class amount that will need to be paid to the school. As in previous years by purchasing all stationery items for the students we as a school get a substantial discount.

Parents as per usual will be required to pay for all subscriptions before the commencement of the school year.

More information will be provided early in Term 4 for each classroom stationery costings.

On Thursday 31 August we celebrated St Brigid’s Feast Day. As a school we celebrated this feast day with a whole school Mass and then continued the celebrations with our Mission Markets. A MASSIVE thank you to ALL the parents who donated items to be sold throughout the markets to raise money for the poor and underprivileged. All students had a great time with lots of lollies, toys, face painting, playdough and many other games etc being offered on the day. Many thanks to all the staff and parent helpers on the day.

On Friday 1 September we celebrated Father’s Day with a sausage sizzle. It was great to see so many dad’s, granddads and significant dad’s come along in the morning. We finished the morning with the Year 3 students performing their Assembly recognising the importance of dad’s and their role.

Please be aware that Term 4, students will wear their Summer Uniform. Please see below for school requirements.

FEMALE STUDENTS

As part of our uniform code, it is expected that the length of the uniform worn by our female students is to be knee length. Most of the dresses and skirts have large hems to allow for growth and can be altered as growth occurs.

Summer: (Term 1 & 4)

· Blue dress with school logo.

· Blue school jumper with school logo.

· White ankle socks with yellow & blue stripes.

· Black leather lace-up shoes (not black sports shoes) or Brown buckled sandals (with no socks).

MALE STUDENTS:

The formal uniform for boys i.e., pale blue shirt, is to be worn tucked-in to both shorts in summer and trousers in winter. Please check that your child’s shirt has adequate length to be tucked in.

Summer: (Term 1 & 4)

· Grey school style shorts or pants (no oversized or cargo styles).

· Blue school blue buttoned shirt with logo.

· Grey ankle socks with royal blue stripe.

This week we wanted to remind you of the invaluable role of fathers in children's lives. In this fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in our daily routines and commitments, often leaving us with less time than we'd like to spend with our loved ones, especially our children.

Quality time is the cornerstone of strong and meaningful relationships, and it holds an even greater significance when it comes to the bond between a father and their child. Those shared moments of laughter, learning, and simply being present create lasting memories that shape a child's life.

As a father, you have the extraordinary opportunity to be a role model, a confidant, and a source of support.

So, let's remember the moments that matter most and make a conscious effort to spend 10 more minutes of quality time each day with our kids.

1. Focus on connecting. Help your child to feel like they are valued, loved and worth your time.

2. Book in a dad date. It doesn't have to be extravagant, a milkshake date, a trip to the local park, kicking the footy or being creative together.

3. No distractions. Quality time means no distractions. It's time to focus and connect with your child.

A schedule for the day can be found below. This schedule is subject to change and is only to be used as a guide for the order of events. This schedule is subject to change if necessary to accommodate the running of the carnival.

In the event of foreseeable poor weather conditions in the lead up the event, the School Leadership Team and I will notify parents via SMS if the carnival will be postponed.

Uniform: On the date of the Inter House Faction Field Events Carnival, students will need to dress in their faction polo shirt, school sport shorts and running/sports shoes.

Carnival participation should be viewed as a privilege. As such, our St Brigid’s School expects excellent behaviour before, during and after this carnival. In the event that a selected student chooses to display inappropriate behaviour prior to this sporting competition, their parents will be contacted and the student will forfeit their place in the events they have qualified for.

Note for spectators: This year’s carnival will involve students rotating around each of the different events outlined on the schedule below. This format is being utilised this year in an effort to maximise participation and to allow each student to be involved in a minimum of five different events.

Important Spectator Information: If a parent or carer would like to attend the carnival, there are a number of guidelines that will need to be adhered to.

➢ Stay within the designated spectator area throughout their time at the carnival. Parents are not permitted to interact with their children during the day - this includes during eating breaks.

Congratulations to our two Creative Edge teams. They represented our school at Curtin University, for the Creative Edge Challenge on Saturday 26th August. They performed an original idea in a 6-week challenge as well as a spontaneous challenge given to them on the day. You did an amazing job, well done.

Hello my name is Kylie and I have been the Canteen Manager at St Brigid's Primary School for over 12 years. I am looking for any mums, dad, grandparents or careers who can spare some time to help out in the canteen. If you can't help for the entire day, that's not a problem, we would be grateful for anytime you can offer. The busiest time in the canteen is between 11.15am to 12.30pm. I find that the children love seeing there loved ones in the canteen it always bring a bit of fun into there day.

Before the end of term please take this opportunity to ensure that our girls are wearing dresses which are the appropriate length and all uniforms are tidy and in good repair.
