Time 4 Tech Newsletter
October 2023
Important Notice‼️
1. Users designated as under 18 will only be able to login with Google to third party apps configured by admin as Trusted or Limited (happening now) or if the Admin has opted into allowing unconfigured apps that only request Google Sign In for users designated as under 18. To conform with Student safety and security guidelines.
This means that any new third party apps not yet configured by admin will present users designated as under 18 with a block page with a request link. Users can click the request link and admins can review and then configure the app in the admin console via a new card on the dashboard.
Users designated as over 18 are not impacted by these changes. Note that this means in most cases teachers will be able to log into new/unconfigured apps with Google but students won't be able to until they are configured by admin.
These changes will take effect October 23, 2023. Once a user clicks the request link, the technology department will review the app and allow access if it meets the student safety and security guidelines. If the third party app does not meet the guidelines, it will remain blocked.

Phishing
Phishing is the criminal act of trying to get your information – usernames, passwords, social security numbers, and bank account or credit card account details – by pretending to be an entity you trust. Phishing emails often direct you to a website that looks real, but is fake, and may be infected with malware.
If you suspect you may be in receipt of a phishing email, contact the technology department. Do not click any links.

The FCC is using Speed Test results to verify the accuracy and reliability of the mobile broadband coverage data that providers must submit to the FCC and are published on the National Broadband Map. Challenge Speed Test results will be analyzed and aggregated each month to determine whether there is a pattern of speed tests from the same area that meets the FCC’s threshold for creating a challenge and requiring a provider response. To verify your cellular and home WiFi, download the FCC Mobile App. Collected data are being used to improve connectivity.
Teacher Working Conditions Overhaul📝
NCDPI needs your feedback and input in our efforts to improve the validity and reliability of the NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey while reducing the number of items and data collection burden on our educators, schools, and districts.
The survey is divided into 12 domains, each focusing on different aspects of the teaching experience. Feedback will be provided on one domain at a time. Responses are anonymous. Teacher participation is instrumental in helping NCDPI understand the needs of teachers across the state, improve work environments, and shape policies that directly impact educators.
Access the Survey: To ensure a clear and organized process, here is the Feedback Form.
In this form, you can review each item within a section and choose from the following options for each item:
Keep: If you believe the item accurately represents your experience and is important for assessing working conditions.
Edit: If you think the item needs modifications or adjustments to better reflect your reality.
Delete: If you believe the item is irrelevant or should be removed from the survey.
Please note that to provide feedback on multiple sections, you will need to complete the survey more than once.
