Dr. Fuller's WES Updates!
November 10th, 2023
Veterans Day Breakfast and Program at WES! Thank You to all of Our Veterans for Attending!
(Starting Monday!) 3rd ANNUAL STUFF THE BUS IS BACK!
Stuff the Bus is Back, and It Starts This Monday!
In continuing with our school theme this year to 'Respect Others, Own Your Action, Act Safely, and Rise to the Challenge ', WES is proud to bring back to Walkerton Elementary the 3rd Annual 'Stuff the Bus' food drive!
Stuff the Bus is an amazing opportunity for our students to once again give back to our community!
During the week of November 13-17, we are asking our students to bring to school non-perishable food items. A list of which you can find HERE.
Similar to this week, classrooms will compete to see which room can bring in the most non-perishable food items!
Students from the winning class will receive (1) Their very own 'Stuff the Bus' t-shirt, exclusive to the winning class, (2) A pizza party with Mr. Stauffer and Dr. Fuller, and (3) That class will actually help STUFF A JOHN GLENN BUS filled with food!
We will then take this bus to our local food pantry, and all of the food we raise will go to our local familiar in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
THANK YOU again for joining us in teaching our kids the importance of giving back to their community!
(NEW) BEST OF LUCK TO OUR SPELL BOWL TEAM ON MONDAY!
Our Spell Bowl Team will be competing this Monday at North Liberty in the regional competition!
Best of luck to our WES Spell Bowl Team and Coach Crone!
You will do GREAT!
2023 High Ability Pumpkin Drop!
(Reminder) Leaves are Falling, and It is Getting Cold!
Fall came full force this week, as we saw the temperature drop to 39 degrees at 7:45 in the morning!
As the weather begins to change, please remind your children that their clothes need to change as well. Coats, shoes, hats, gloves, etc. may be needed sooner rather than later.
If you need assistance in providing any type of clothing, please email Dr. Fuller at pfuller@jgsc.k12.in.us
Similarly, as the rain (and God forbid snow) begins to fall, please remember to keep it slow in the parking lot, both in the morning and afternoon. We have a lot of very excited kids eager to both come to school and go home from school, and we want to make sure we are keeping them as safe as possible.
(REMINDER) PTA- SPONSOR A DAY!
Firstly, if you are interested in joining the WES PTA, please click HERE for the information form.

Construction at WES!
You may have heard that WES is going to have some construction happening this year, and that is indeed correct!
WES is looking to improve various areas of our building, starting with new heating and cooling systems in our classrooms! Construction will not happen before the first day of school, but will happen throughout the upcoming school year.
But don't worry! Classrooms will be moved around so that there will be no students or staff in classrooms where work is being done.
JGSC is finalizing the construction bidding process, and once that happens, I will be able to provide more details on (1) when construction will start and (2) what rooms will be affected during certain times.
More details coming soon!

Dr. Fuller's Thoughts!
Doing 'good' matters.
Whether it is helping a friend carry their backpack to class, opening the door for a stranger so they can go first, OR STUFFING A BUS FULL OF FOOD....the good we do in this world doesn't go unnoticed.
We try our best to praise our students at WES for doing 'the good'...lending a helping hand, donating food, making a new student smile their first day at WES...
...'doing good' matters.
Character is what you do when no one is looking. What matters to me is how our WES students treat each other...but we also care deeply about how they act when they leave this building and how they represent themselves.
When your child does the right thing, let them know you are proud of them.
You don't need to do that with money or by giving them a treat...you simply just need to tell them that YOU are PROUD of who and what they did.
That will go miles.
I'm so PROUD of our students for their effort with 'Stuff the Bus', and I'm so PROUD of our staff and community for rallying behind such a good cause.
THANK YOU for all of your continued support of WES!
