Back to School Information
Happy September Lincoln Landsharks!
This newsletter is packed with important information to help and assist, as we partner together to have the best school year ever! Please make important note of the upcoming OPEN HOUSE on September 28th from 5:00-6:30. This is an informal event, students will be able to tour you around the school- scavenger hunt style, meet the teacher and all of our staff, see the classrooms, get connected on REMIND if you haven't already and check out some local vendors in the area. This is also a good chance to meet other parents, sign up for our School Site Council or PTO and enjoy an evening with your family at the school.
This year, we are raffling off a FULL SIZE PORTABLE HOME Basketball unit with a basketball. EVERY person will receive a FREE raffle ticket, just for attending, so we hope to see you there. We have an interactive display for students to take their picture in front of. This bulletin board ties to our theme this year, as OUR students are TAKING OFF, academically.
While at Open House, this is a great time to ask and understand the expectations of the grade levels, with regard to homework and the standards are students are accountable for. Please check in and ask the teachers, how you can support the learning of your students through these routines and habits. This is not a parent-teacher conference, but if you are looking to speak about individual matters, please reach out and schedule something with the teacher.
As you will also note, we have a very tight routine for ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL. ALL families are expected to follow the drop off routines, from our car line procedures to our pick up. These routines keep OUR STUDENTS SAFE. We realize the limitations of our parking, so please plan ahead, as the rules do apply to everyone, for the benefit our our children and the school community. There is NO double parking, or parking in the Carline or the Bus Pick-up and Drop off area. We have safety cones delineating the car line and in the front of our building to allow our staff space to see who is picking up. Thank you for being respectful of these practices, as they are safeguards to assure your children are safe and dismissed only to those that have access. Anyone dismissing a student MUST be listed on the Purple EMERGENCY FORM. Please be sure to keep your numbers and emails up to date. Thank you for your help with this. If you are changing HOW your students gets home please send a NOTE in with your child in the morning to avoid any confusion.
If you have not yet, please be sure to get connected with your classroom teachers through the use of the REMIND app. The teachers should have already sent you a code to accept. We use this communication app, for classroom and school happenings as well as direct teacher-family communication. Our school website is filled with useful information and is always kept up to date, as is the information we also post on Facebook, and Twitter, so please be sure to follow us!

IMPORTANT DROP OFF INFORMATION
Transportation - Bussing Information and Contacts
Busses are the first out of the building. Please understand that the times listed on the bus passes, are approximate. Please allow yourself 10 minutes before and after the time listed, for any traffic delays.
ALL STUDENTS that ride a BUS in KINDERGARTEN and GRADE 1, have had laminated BUS tags attached to their backpacks. The information includes, their actual bus pass, the students Bus #, name and their homeroom. This is one additional step to assist the bus drivers in recognizing the youngest students, while assuring the students have the pertinent information available. Please DO NOT REMOVE these tags. Some students are very shy or have languages that make being able to communicate their information difficult, this aids in removing the barrier to keep our students safe. Thank you for your help with this.
In addition, the #'s on the outside of the busses, may NOT always match the actual bus number of your child. Students that are NOT picked up at their bus stop are NOT returned to the Lincoln. ALL STUDENTS that have not been picked up at their stops, are brought to the MOODY SCHOOL, located at 158 Rogers Street.
Below is the Transportation link for any additional information you may require.
HEALTH - SAFETY - MEDICATION
Any students who have emergency medications (Epi-Pens, inhalers, etc.) or who will receive medication in school MUST have a medication order from the prescribing physician AND a completed consent form from the City Health Department. Forms and medication can be dropped off to the school nurse on the first day of school. The school nurse cannot administer ANY medications without a physician's order, including over-the-counter medications. Please make sure that the school nurse is provided refills in advance of any medication supply running out.
Please also be sure that the nurse has updated vaccination records. In addition, any absence related to a doctor appointment- please be sure to get a Dr. note, so that we may document it as an excused absence.
