A Message from the Principal
Hello Cougar Families!!!
We have reached the end of the semester and what a joyous way to go into Winter Break than our Winter Celebration held on Thursday. It was wonderful to see so many of our families and Cougars participating in our school program. This raises the excitement for next year as the completion of our renovated campus will allow us to hold all our celebrations at Geneva Heights. Be on the lookout for our 3rd-5th grade Spring celebration being planned for the 2nd semester. We would like to thank Principal Maggie Huff and Mockingbird Elementary for allowing us to use their auditorium.
This week will be a busy week with instruction still our primary focus. Friday will be a day to celebrate with classmates at the end of our semester. Please be on the lookout for detailed information from homeroom teachers regarding Friday plans and logistics.
One of Geneva Heights' greatest features is the diversity of our campus. We have students of different cultures, faiths, and ethnicities, and this time of year we witness the convergence of all faiths. On behalf of Geneva Heights, I want to wish our families and friends a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, and Happy Diwali. We are a community that embraces and celebrates our differences and uses our diversity to add to our Cougar scholar experience. I wish everyone a safe, joyous, and restful Winter Break. I
Your Proud Principal of Geneva Heights Elementary,
Israel Verver, Jr.

Classroom Holiday Parties 12-22-23
- Classroom parties will begin at 10:45 and must end at 11:45, this allows time for clean-up of classrooms before leaving for the break.
- Only the room parent will be allowed to be on campus for the day to assist classroom teachers. If the room parent is unable to make it, they may name a proxy to help the classroom.
- Please be on the lookout for more information from your student's homeroom teacher for class room party needs.
- Please send anything for the celebrations at the beginning of the day. If providing hot food (i.e. pizza) that can be delivered to the front office but it must be marked as to which class it is intended for so staff can drop it off.

Bus Update
Update 12/4/2023:
Parents,
Dismissal is a crucial time for safety. We have had several incidents where parents have shown up during dismissal and removed their students from the bus. Once we safely get our Cougars onto the bus, we will no longer allow students to be pulled. We have a system in place that requires communication with homeroom teachers and the front office so we ensure the safety and well-being of our scholars. Students cannot and will not be removed without the proper vetting at the front office. If your child is on the bus, you will have to meet them at the Del Mar campus. We use all staff members during dismissal to ensure the campus is properly and safely cleared. Any disruption in this system can potentially lead to campus personnel being distracted and causing a gap in our protocols and safety measures. There is a 2:30 pm cutoff for notifying the campus of any changes in your Cougar's dismissal routine.
Also, please refrain from parking in driveway or on the street during dismissal. The driveway may be used AFTER the busses leave but entering the driveway limits the space our buses have to turn into the campus. The street parking reduces the flow of traffic and prevents the busses from leaving safely and on time.
We would like to ask parents, (who have signed up their students, to ride the bus, from Delmar to the school), to please start sending your children, on the bus, in the mornings so we can avoid having buses being removed from our route.
Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
