Sage Creek News

Another amazing month has passed at Sage Creek!! There are a few exciting things that I wanted to celebrate with you! But first, if you plan on having your current kindergartener do Chinese Immersion, make sure you apply here before February 3rd!!

1-Did you know that our student council (with the help of some amazing teachers), film video announcements? They are posted to our school's YouTube channel. Our teachers show these videos within the first 10 minutes of the school day. We have a few other fun videos you might want to check out there as well.

2-I was recently looking at some data and found that Sage Creek scores are on a great incline!

In 2021-2022 75% of students were proficient and/or made typical or better progress on the Acadience reading test. In 2022-2023 83% of students fell into this same category! That means that in one year our proficiency + growth went up by 8%! THAT IS HUGE! I only anticipate it getting better as right now we are on a similar trajectory.

Did you know that each term we talk about a character trait? We have a read aloud as a grade level with Mrs. Youd every other month where we discuss the trait for the term and talk about how we can implement the character trait for the term. At the end of the term our teachers select the "Kind Kid of the Quarter" from their class and those students get a swag bag and a yard sign to reward them for their kind efforts. Students are also earning "Caught Being Kind" tickets, with 5 of these they get to come to the office and choose a prize. We appreciate your support in encouraging kindness at our school. If you have a kind message you'd like to share with our school, feel free to add it to our kindness eWall by going to our school website and scrolling to the very bottom! All messages are screened by Mrs. Youd.
