Progress continues on the most recent Phase of our building project. The current phase of construction is slated to be competed over Spring Break. At that time we will enter into another Phase.
The following projects are ongoing at this time:
- Paint, carpet, tile in the next phase
- Electricity for the new rooms created in this phase
- Completion of the sidewalk at the Southeast end of the building
- Rooftop HVAC units replaced
Work on our brand new roof is also scheduled to begin (weather permitting) sometime in March.

Dismissal Reminders
Please take a minute to review the guidelines for the safe arrival and dismissal of our students during this time of construction. Last week we had over 30 cars staged in our lot by 3:00 p.m. arriving in our lot to wait for students. We ask that families wait until 3:30 p.m. or later to queue in the parking lot for car riders Our official dismissal time is 3:45 p.m. When our parking lot becomes too full and spills out onto the main road, we have to dismiss students early and it causes students to miss valuable instructional time.
Other important reminders include:
- Ensure that children are ready to exit the car quickly with all belongings gathered upon arrival in the morning
- Please remain in your car as your students are loaded/unloaded. If you need to buckle up your child, we ask that you pull away from the pick-up line to assist with buckling.
- For the safety of our students please refrain from using cell phones in our parking lot once arrival/dismissal of students begins
Thank you for partnering with us for the safe arrival and dismissal of our students!

Parents as Teachers openings in our area
Are you or someone you know currently expecting a baby or have a child that is newborn to age 3? If so, you might consider joining the Auburn-Washburn Parents as Teachers program. This program provides individual family visits with a trained family support specialist, giving parents resources and developmental activity ideas for keeping themselves and their children safe, healthy and ready to learn. It is a free service offered to any family with at least one child under the age of 3 years old living in the USD #437 district. Families have the option of meeting with their support specialist in the privacy of their own home or may choose to meet at another location within the community that is convenient for them.
We are currently taking applications for new families to enroll in the program, and both day and evening visit times are available. If you have questions or are interested in enrollment, please contact the program coordinator, Shawna Hall, via email at hallsha@usd437.net, by phone at 785-339-4762.
