Manvel Public School, 2023
A Note From the Principal
Happy Fall!
We have officially been in school for six weeks. It has been great getting to know the staff and students that make this such an amazing school to be at each day.
Every six months, as mandated by the state, the Manvel School Board reviews our Health and Safety Plan for the district. If you would like to review our updated MPS 2023 Healthy Restart Plan, please check it out on our school website. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact Dr. Wheeler at dave.wheeler@manvelk8.com

Each year we partner with the Manvel Fire Department to spread awareness of fire safety during National Fire Safety Week. This year, Fire Safety Week is October 9th-13th. Students in the younger grades will get to visit with Manvel Firefighters and learn about safety from the Grand Forks Air Force Base personnel on Monday, October 9th. The Manvel Fire Department also purchased fire hats and coloring books for our students in PreK-3rd grade! There will be winners for a coloring contest and poster contest announced as well!
We are putting a special emphasis on being COMPOSED this month! Our students did a super job of practicing Confidence last month.
We still have Yearbooks for sale from the 22-23 School Year. They are great keepsakes with so many fun memories ~ check them out or purchase one in the school office ~ they are $25.00 each.
Again, thanks for partnering with us to bring quality education to Manvel Public School! Your children are loved and cared for at MPS!

OUTDOOR CLOTHING AND PREPAREDNESS
The weather is turning colder. Parents, please make sure your children come to school dressed for outside activities! Putting your child's name on articles of clothing will help with items that may become misplaced. Thank you!
Counselor Connections
Hello Families!
SEL Focus: Composure
This month our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) focus for the month is Composure.
Students will be exposed to the Zones of Regulation, a color-coded system that allows them to communicate to themselves and the people around them how they are feeling and how much control they currently have over their emotional state.
To represent these zones of emotions, the students will be using a "feeling" thermometer. Please stop by the counseling office during Parent/Teachers conferences next week to pick up a feeling thermometer to display and use at home as well!
Red Ribbon Week
October also brings Red Ribbon Week! The last week of October is nationally recognized as a week to raise awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Manvel middle school students will get the unique opportunity to experience a simulation of impaired driving with pedal carts and visions goggles sponsored by North Dakota's Vision Zero project!
Comfort Closet
Please stop by during Parent/Teacher conferences (or anytime) and check out our newly renovated comfort closet in the school portable. This closet houses school supplies, sanitary products, winter gear, boots, shoes, and clothing for boys and girls from size 3T to Men's Large!
This closet is intended to serve our school community when families may be in need.
Please don't hesitate to reach out any time! We are a team! Amanda Weston
OUR 8TH GRADE HAD A GREAT TIME IN WOLF RIDGE ENJOYING ALL THE FUN ACTIVITIES!
THANKS TO MS. GOTTWALT, MR. G, & ALI JOHNSON, FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!
SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY REPORT
Each year, all schools in North Dakota are required to post the School Accountability Report for parents and stakeholders. Please see the document below to learn more.
CONNECTION TIME AT MPS!
Manvel School values connection and relationships with kids. It is a true benefit of a small school! Research says it only takes ONE caring adult to change the trajectory of a child’s life. All our Manvel students are paired up with a caring adult at MPS that they can go to for support or help. September 22nd was our first 30-minute connection time this year!
ST. JUDE'S BIKE-A-THON
THE ST. JUDE'S BIKE-A-THON WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! THANKS TO ALL THE FAMILIES WHO SUPPORTED THIS GREAT CAUSE! MPS RAISED $2834.00 TO SUPPORT ST. JUDE'S CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.
