Please remember that it is your responsibility to keep up on your grades and assignments. PowerSchool is a great tool for keeping track, however you still need to stay in constant communication with your teachers to make sure assignments were received. Eligibility is ran every Monday morning around 10:00 am. Please stay ahead of the game so that you can play in your sport each week.

The football team banquet is Wednesday, January 12th at 6:30 PM in the school cafeteria. Players and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Greetings Mancos Middle and High School parents,

This is Ed Whritner; some of you know me through my work at Mancos schools as the PBL Director over the last two and a half years, or perhaps through my time as a Mancos school board member. I am pleased to inform you that I will be stepping into an additional role in the secondary schools as the Assistant Principal for this Spring 2022 semester. This exciting addition to the secondary schools comes from our desire for continuous improvement for positive outcomes for students, teachers, and parents. I will have many responsibilities in this role, one of which will be supporting students with behavior matters through restorative practices.

With the growth in secondary student enrollment, I am looking forward to supporting Principal Marchino directly while maintaining my responsibilities as the Mancos School District PBL Director. My additional role as the Assistant Principal does not in any way indicate a devaluation of the importance of PBL for our district, as PBL is and continues to be the valued instructional strategy of our school district. Please feel free to contact me through the High School with any questions regarding this adjustment to administrative structure or other more general questions. I am here for increased support and communication.

The new yearbook club is seeking photos of any school related activities and happenings; for example sports, field trips, plays, projects, clubs, etc.

Also, seniors they will need a senior photo, your baby picture and your senior quote.

All photos MUST be submitted by March 15th to be able to meet the publishing deadline.

Dear Parents, Staff and Students,

Rebooted Over The Winter Break

I am hoping everyone made it a priority to rest the brain from the never-ending barrage of

information that is around us everyday. It was a much needed pause that I acknowledged daily.

Honestly, I did listen to the news but made it a point to stay away from the latest rules and

regulations regarding covid and our schools until the very last day of break.

As the calendar turned to 2022, no doubt we all reflected on what has happened and what is

coming. Our schools have been impacted by covid over 3 school years. Actually, I do not know

school nursing without covid.

I do want to reinforce the need for each of us to look at ourselves and ask, “What can I do

better to stay healthy?” We all know that we should eat healthy, exercise and get plenty of rest.

With the new omicron variant affecting children, we need to focus on their health now more

than ever before.

The Mancos School District continues to perform weekly serial covid testing for staff and

students. The school is giving out home test kits to use with an online app. We are excited to

once again be hosting a covid mobile vaccination clinic on Saturday, February 5th. This is

provided for all community members.

As many of you may know, Montezuma county has had an increase in covid cases, currently

with 251 documented cases. The Mancos School District currently has three confirmed covid

cases and six others with covid type symptoms or in family quarantine.

Affordable Connectivity Program/Broadband Discount Program

As of today (12/31/21), eligible households are encouraged to apply to receive up to $30 per month discount toward internet service and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands.

Households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

A household is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

§ Has an income that is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines;

§ Participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, WIC, or Lifeline;

§ Participates in Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations;

§ Is approved to receive benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision in the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, or 2021-2022 school year;

§ Received a Federal Pell Grant during the award year; or

§ Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income program.
