New: A message to Eastview students who park in the lots east of the tennis/pickleball courts:
The City of Apple Valley is planning a Mid-Winter Festival Community Celebration at Johnny Cake Ridge Park West behind Eastview High School on Saturday, February 4th and will be setting up on Friday, February 3rd.
Students who normally park in the lots east of the tennis/pickleball courts will now need to park in front of the aquatic center or the lots along Johnny Cake Ridge road on Friday, February 3rd. Parking in the EVHS lots without a permit will result in a $20 fine for the parking violation.

Interested in Joining Eastview's National Honor Society for 2023-2024?
Current sophomores and current juniors are eligible to complete a Candidate Form. It is strongly encouraged that the eligible candidate have a cumulative 3.8 GPA or higher.
Optional informational meetings will be held on Wednesday, March 8 at 7:10 AM OR 2:30 PM in C232. Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to attend ONE of the meetings.

FCCLA STAR Event - Recycle Your Plastic Bags
FCCLA members are doing a sustainability STAR event and are collecting plastic bags. They have put a box (Home Depot-decorated) similar to this one in front of the sanitation stations in each cluster office to collect any plastic bags you, your friends or neighbors might be wanting to get rid of.

EVCF Looking For Volunteers
The Eastview Community Foundation is looking for volunteer readers to help with this year’s senior scholarship application selection process. It takes a lot of volunteers to give away $100,000 to our EVHS seniors! Training will be provided, followed by independent reading and scoring of student essays. Essays will be reviewed from February 5 – February 25. Parents/guardians of seniors from the Class of 2023 are not eligible due to potential conflict of interest. Need a Previous EVHS Yearbook?
The EVHS Library has an archive of yearbooks which are kept to chronicle our history. In addition, we have also received extra copies over the years that have not been picked up or used for other purposes. It is time to downsize these extra copies. Do you have a grad who didn’t get a yearbook or know a neighbor who would appreciate the memories? You can find a complete list of extra copies available here listed by year. If you would like to request one of these copies, please email evhs.learningcommons@apps.district196.org and we will set the copy aside for you to pick up. Feel free to share the link with anyone who may be interested. All books can be picked up at Eastview High School during school hours.

Graduation ads are full-color, optional congratulatory messages to graduating seniors from their families. They include the student's name, a baby picture, and a short message.
Families are given the opportunity to purchase a Senior Graduation Advertisement for $45.00. We accept ads and ad content through online submission only. Grad Ad submissions are due on February 1, 2023.

EVHS All-Night Senior Party Tickets On Sale Now!
Graduating seniors are invited to attend the 2023 All-Night Senior Party, a chemical free, lock-in which takes place the night of graduation, Saturday June 3rd, 2023 from 10:00 pm – 4:00am at EVHS.
Each year the All-Night Senior Party is a highlight for the graduating seniors with at least 80% of the class attending. This is an “Everything Included” night of fun! Entertainment, Food, Prizes, Games, Casino, and MORE! It is the place to be on graduation night! On February 8th there will be a party kick-off event during the school day where the theme of the party will be revealed to the senior class! Get your tickets before the kick-off to save money & be entered into prize drawings!

New: Annual Environmental College and Career Fair - February 14th, 6-8 PM
The School of Environmental Studies in Apple Valley, Minnesota will be holding their annual Environmental College and Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Over 20 colleges and environmental organization have confirmed participation.
This event is an arena style "fair" in which colleges provide information about their institutions and offer college/career guidance to students. There is no pre-registration and the event is open to the public.

New: Mark Your Calendars: In-School Pre-ACT and ACT - April 4th
On Tuesday, April 4th all 10th and 11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the Pre-ACT (10th) and ACT (11th) test at Eastview High School. Students in 10th and 11th grade will report to school at their regularly scheduled time. Students in grades 9 and 12 will access instruction asynchronously.
*No sign-up will be required. Look for more information to follow in March.
New: Eagan Community Foundation Scholarship Application Now Open
The Eagan Community Foundation scholarship application process IS NOW OPEN and will close the evening of February 24th at 11:59 PM. They will be awarding roughly 110 scholarships totaling over $120,000.
Every student is encouraged to submit an application! Awards are based on a variety of criteria including community involvement, those with military parents, those who have persevered through hardships in life, participation in sports and school activities, academic merit and financial need. Only scholarships that are based on financial need require a copy of the front page of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA. Be sure and file your FAFSA by the scholarship deadline.

Ready, Set, FAFSA Series, February 2023
This February, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC's The College Place Minnesota, and Minnesota Goes to College are launching a series of financial aid webinars for Minnesota students and families as they prepare for the college-going process. All sessions will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees will be entered to win a $500 scholarship.
The series, which runs February 7 through 28, will focus on a variety of topics, including general financial aid information, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.

Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. These university/college or military visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.

Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Credit-Derham Hall Raiders – January 26, 2023
Two top 20 rated teams squared off Thursday evening at Charles M. Schulz – Highland Arena in St. Paul. The Lightning were looking to avenge a loss in the Section finals from last season. The Raiders were undefeated in the new year, going 6-1 year to date. The game was everything it was hoped to be. The Raiders came out strong in the 1st period, scoring at 3:07 on the power play (PP) making it 1-0. The Lightning tied the score 1-1 at 10:31 when Tanner Kronberg #17 scored an even strength goal with assists to Charlie Ortman #26 and Tyler Cords #6. The Raiders outshot the Lightning 14-5 in the period. Eastview went up 2-1 early in the 2nd period, when Charlie Ortman #26 scored an even strength goal at 3:29, assists to Tyler Cords #6 and Tanner Kronberg #17. The Raiders tied the game 2-2 late in the period at 15:13, on sharp angled snipe. Shots at the end of the 2nd period were 26-11 in favor of the Raiders, with Goalie Jay Svaren #32 standing tall in net. The Lightning took the lead early in the 3rd at 2:52 when Billy Downs #23 scored an unassisted even strength goal making the score 3-2. Zach Wooten #9 scored an empty net goal at 16:56 of the 3rd, shooting the puck the entire length of the ice, the lone assist to Nick Karam #16. The shots ended up 36-20 in favor of the Raiders, so Lightning goalie Jay Svaren #32 proved to be the difference in the game. HUGE win for Eastview, improving to 11-6 on the season and winning 4 of their last 5 games. Next up for the Lightning is the Prior Lake Lakers on Saturday on the road.
Eastview Boys Varsity Hockey vs. the Farmington Tigers – January 24, 2023
The Lightning were looking to get back on track vs. the Tigers on Tuesday evening at Schmitz-Maki Arena in Farmington. The Tigers scored first, 3:00 into the game, on a turnover in the Lightning zone, on an odd man rush. There was no more scoring in the first period, with the shots on goal even at 6-6. Eastview tied the game 1-1 early in the 2nd period at 1:53 on the power play (PP), when Tanner Kronberg #17 scored with assists going to Jordan Brothers #11 and John Kisch #5. The period ended 1-1, with Eastview now outshooting the Tigers 15-10 for the game. The Lightning scored early in the 3rd at 2:15, making it 3-1, an even strength goal by Billy Downs #23, assists to John Kisch #5 and Jordan Brothers #11. Logan Opgrand #2 finished the scoring late in the game at 16:52 of the 3rd period, with an impressive end to end rush and an unassisted goal, making the final score 4-1. Goalie Jay Svaren #32 was solid in net, improving to 10-6 for the season. Final shots for the game were 23-14 in favor of the Lightning. The Lightning have an important game coming up on Thursday January 26, 2023, vs. Cretin-Derham Hall on the road.
JV SPORTS
Eastview High School Girls Junior Varsity Basketball beat Lakeville South High School 43-35 1/24
The JV Girls Basketball team remained undefeated with a victory over Lakeville South last night. Balanced scoring and handling pressure were keys to the victory.
Eastview JV Boys Hockey
On Tuesday night, the Eastview JV team took on Farmington. Eastview got on the board first with a goal from Louis Rogers in the 1st period. In the 3rd period, Farmington tied it up on a powerplay goal. After going into overtime, the game ended in a 1 to 1 tie. Kaden Goff had 24 shots on goal.
Last night, the JV team played Cretin-Derham Hall in an exciting game! CDH got on the board first and the 1st period ended 0 to 1, CDH. In the 2nd period, Kyle Benolkin scored with an assist from Tae Kalthoff. The second Eastview goal of the period came from Max Powers-Brekke with assists from Michael Cherevatsky and Liam Johnson. In the 3rd period, it was Jaymeson Zackery who gave Eastview the 3 to 2 lead on an unassisted goal. Zackery scored again with an assist from Louis Rogers on a powerplay goal to make the game 4 to 3 Eastview. Blake Jensen looked great in the net and faced 29 shots. The game ended 4 to 3 with an Eastview win! The Boys Hockey Team will face Prior Lake on Saturday at Dakotah! Ice Center. The JV game starts at 11AM.

New: EVHS FIRST Robotics Results
Eastview FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams competed in their end of season League Tournaments last weekend.
Short Circuits, team 9182, competed on Saturday. They are seniors Aidan O’Malley, Andrew Seppelt, Harper Crubel, and Richard Bui and juniors Mason Artwohl and Sneha Narra. Based on their record at previous events, they entered competition ranked 12th of 24 teams. They went 5-1 during the qualification rounds and climbed to 10th place. They were the seventh team selected into the elimination round, joining the third ranked alliance. They won the semifinals against the number two alliance but fell to the number one alliance in the finals. Short Circuits were also a finalist for the Innovate Award.
Tech Tigers, team 14561, competed on Sunday. They are seniors Annu Malarvannan, Kate Deviley, Laney Schwartz, and Sigrid Froehlig and juniors Isaac Field and Steffi Decapia. They entered competition ranked 17th and remained there after the qualification rounds. They were the eighth team selected into the elimination round, joining the fourth ranked alliance. They were eliminated by the first ranked alliance in the semifinals. Tech Tigers were also a finalist for the Innovate Award.
Congratulations to both teams for getting into the elimination rounds of their tournaments and for improving their robots throughout the season!
