The Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon Results
The Rowland High School Academic Decathlon team placed 9th at this year's Los Angeles County competition, competing against 37 schools across the county. The Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon is a rigorous scholastic team competition that assesses high school students' knowledge and skills as they compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals. In addition to placing 9th, the team earned a total of 13 individual medals, reflecting their hard work and dedication!
At this year's banquet Mr. Cole received the Roberta Kordich Coach Award. The award is presented annually to the coach in Los Angeles County who best exemplifies going beyond instructing the fundamentals of the competition in motivating students to a higher level of learning and excellence.

Jeremy also received a gold medal for being the highest-scoring decathlete on the Rowland HS team.
The official team comprises Jeremy Tan, Celina Poon, Sabrina Se, Kai Pablo, David Zhou, Andy Huang, Matthew Bragais, and Melissa Camargo.
The junior team comprises Monique Heung, Julia Jaing, Doris Tseng, Leah Tsoi, Catherine Chen, Iris Huang, Hannah Usahacharoenporn, and Hailey Laygo.
Spanish Class
Students in Spanish class created their own personalized Alebrije. Every Alebrije is unique and represents one of the four elements of nature: earth, wind, fire, and water. You can see the Alebrijes displayed in our Front Office.
RHS E-Sports News
RHS League of Legend Varsity team has a record of 5-0 (10-0 overall). It is currently ranked 3 out of 84 schools in all of California. With a few more weeks till the CIF playoffs, feel free to watch our students participate on Tuesdays at 4:15 pm in E-5!
Congratulations to Steven Tomlinson (10th), Jude Ocaranza (10th), Aiden Hsu (12th), Elaine Tao (10th), and Ulises Martinez (12th) for staying undefeated so far.
French Class News
The French Club organized an event for students to decorate masks for Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is a festive day celebrated in France on Shrove Tuesday (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday), which marks the close of the pre-Lenten season. The French name Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday, from the custom of using all the fats in the home before Lent in preparation for fasting and abstinence.
FBLA LDI Results
Rowland High School is celebrating the exceptional achievements of our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter at the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) hosted by Diamond Bar High School on February 17. The event underscored our school’s commitment to leadership, innovation, and excellence, with our FBLA members Avery Chu, Andrew Cao, Jason Kha, Joshua Kim, Allen Li, and Dylan Minarto leading a workshop on Entrepreneurship showcasing the spirit of innovation our school embodies. Their efforts highlighted Rowland High School’s distinguished presence and contributed significantly to the event’s success. The LDI was further enhanced by a keynote on financial literacy by Mr. Chen, offering our students vital insights into an essential skill for tomorrow’s leaders. The conference provided interactive workshops and networking opportunities, aligning with FBLA’s mission to prepare members for leadership roles in business and STEM. This event was a testament to our students’ potential and a stepping stone towards their future successes, highlighting how Rowland High School is helping grow future leaders and creators. We look forward to the continued growth and accomplishments of our FBLA Chapter, and we are proud of their contributions to making the LDI a resounding success.

Graduation Tickets
You can start purchasing your graduation tickets now! Each senior can purchase up to 6 tickets for $5.00 each in the ASB Office. Tickets will be on sale until Friday, May 24, 2024. You can request additional tickets by being placed on a waiting list by Friday, May 24, 2024. If additional tickets are available, seniors on the waiting list can start purchasing additional tickets on Monday, June 3, 2024. Not all requests will be granted.
Commencement tickets will be distributed on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 7:30 am in front of the school or as the student departs from the Grad Nite bus. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Dodgeball Tournament
Get ready to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge some more because the highly anticipated dodgeball tournament is set to kick off next week! Teams from all corners of the campus are gearing up for four days of intense competition, battling it out from Monday through Thursday for a chance to secure their spot in the ultimate showdown—the finals: students vs. teachers. Anticipation is high as players hone their skills and strategize for a shot at glory. The energy is palpable as the countdown begins for Friday, the day when champions will be crowned and bragging rights earned. It's sure to be a week filled with adrenaline-pumping action and nail-biting excitement!

Counseling News
UC for Everyone 2024 - 9th-11th graders
UC will host a free virtual event on Thursday, February 29, for students and families who are interested in learning more about UC admission and our nine undergraduate campuses. We welcome California students in grades 9–11 who are interested in applying to UC for fall 2025 or beyond.
This event will help students discover what kinds of learning and engagement opportunities are available in and out of the classroom. A panel of current students and parents will answer questions about their experiences being a part of UC. Finally, admissions representatives will share information on both the first-year and transfer admission routes, including tips to help students prepare for the process.
