Scorpion Scoop
November 12, 2023
A Message from Principal Hann
Scorpion families,
November is Children and Teens Grief Awareness Month. Desert Edge will #BeThere to support all of our students on campus. Desert Edge High School participates in the school ID initiative. The Teen Lifeline’s number is available on the back of all school IDs. It is an easy and vital action that will connect every teen in Arizona to help and hope. Students who feel stressed out about school, sports, family life, or anything in-between have easy access to Teen Lifeline’s crisis hotline and the Peer Counselors who have been trained to connect their peers to resources that can provide critical support and even save lives.
We are currently in the process of assessing and evaluating student progress for the first half of the second quarter. Progress reports will be available for viewing for students and parents on Friday, November 17. I encourage you to review the report with your child regarding their academic progress..
It is already the time of year for your student to begin thinking about course selection for next year! Our dedicated counselors will be conducting individual meetings with students to discuss academic goals, career aspirations, and the optimal course selections to support these objectives. To streamline this process, we will have our team available on November 28 at our Parent Advisory Council for Course Selection Information Night and AP/Dual Enrollment Fair at 5:30pm in our library. This event will provide details about the courses available, graduation requirements, and the course selection timeline. Your attendance is strongly encouraged to ensure that you are well-informed and can actively contribute to the decision-making process.
Your ongoing support and collaboration are appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school office.
Make it a great week to be a Scorpion!
