Greetings Hesse Parents,

We had an amazing first two days of school! Thank you so much to our parents for your patience as we work out the kinks associated with the new school year. We look forward to another awesome week here at Hesse K8. Please see below regarding what's in store for our students this week:

Arrival begins at 7:45 AM. Parents will be able to escort students to their classroom during the following days:

• Monday, August 7th
• Tuesday, August 8th
• Wednesday, August 9th

Security protocols will remain in place regarding entry into the building. Beginning Thursday, August 10th, staff members will escort students to classrooms.

Calling all parents of fifth grade students interested in participating in our band program! An interest meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 5th from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Band Room. We hope to see you there!!

Softball and Cross Country Tryouts will take place after school on Wednesday, August 9th. Please contact Coach Stephen Chaney for more details. Students must have documentation of a physical on file in order to participate.

iReady Diagnostics begins Thursday and Friday for all students in grades 6-8. Please contact your child's teacher for more information.

Hesse Spirit Day is scheduled this Friday. Students may wear their favorite Hesse Spirit Shirt with uniform to show their school spirit.

Classroom assignments were communicated to our parents during Open House. However, please note that classroom assignments are not finalized until after the tenth day of school. At this time, school enrollment numbers will determine the amount of staff we are able to keep or lose and may impact classroom assignments.

Attention all parents of students participating in YBASE Before and After School (YMCA) services here at Hesse K8!! Please review the information below regarding updates:

YMCA partners who offer the Before and After School services that indicated staffing availability will not allow them to offer the morning program until around August 14. Hesse K8 will continue afternoon sessions. We remain in close contact with the YMCA and are hopeful their staffing conditions will improve and the programs will resume sooner than anticipated. Should you have any questions about this service, please contact the YMCA.

With the understanding that student behavior is influenced by the way students are dressed and that no student should dress in a manner that is disruptive or has an adverse effect on school activities, the following mandatory uniform standards have been developed. Students are expected to dress in the school uniform during the school day, on field trips, and during school-related activities. Hesse K-8 uniform colors are as follows: hunter green or white uniform shirts; khaki or navy uniform bottoms. Please refer to the SCCPSS Code of Conduct for full details regarding uniform guidelines/expectations.

If student arrives at school out of uniform, it will be documented and student will have the option to:

1. Change clothes into a supplied uniform and remain at school, or

2. Call home for a change of clothing, which must delivered to the front office by 9:00 a.m.

3. At this time, students are not allowed to wear a hooded sweatshirt "hoodie". They will be asked to take it off in the building.

Students with repetitive uniform violations will be subject to disciplinary action. Please see below regarding documentation used for dress code violations:

Safety is our top priority. We need all families to work with staff members to ensure the safety of our students and staff is maintained. Our instructional day begins at 8:15 am. Students arriving at 8:15 am or later will be marked tardy and parents must walk them to the front door to sign them into school.

Students will be assigned a security number and security tags will be given to each family to use during pick-up. Anyone who is picking up a student from campus will need to have the security tag or report to the office with identification.

Please be patient during carpool! The first week or two, the carpool line moves slowly until the students learn the new routine.
