Dear Longacre Families,

We have two school-wide activities this week. First, our Virtual Fun Run is happening over this weekend. We have created a shared photo album for our Virtual Fun Run. Spot and I met up yesterday to team up for the Fun Run and I shared a photo of us in the album. It's great to see so many pictures of our students and staff participating so far!

Our second school event is our Family Leader in Me Night on Wednesday, October 21st from 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. Members of our Parent Lighthouse Team will lead a virtual evening of learning the Habits of Leadership. If you would like to learn more about Leader in Me and how we incorporate the terminology and ideas into our everyday learning, we would love your family to join us in this virtual learning session. This a great way for new families to connect to what their child is learning about the habits of leadership. Habits 1, 2 & 3 will be highlighted during this session.

Lastly, I want to thank you for completing our return to in-person learning parent survey. I shared in our PTA meeting last week that we are busy analyzing the survey data and developing schedules and plans for the November 9th return to in-person learning date. Our number one priority is to maintain consistency for all of our students. I will communicate details to you as soon as they are finalized.

Dear Parents of Past "Reflections Program" students,

Longacre's PTA is putting together a video to help show other Longacre families how fun and exciting the Reflections Program is for students. The PTA would like to invite your child to submit a short 1-2 minute video either showing and explaining their past artwork or simply talking about what they liked most about the program.

Please submit all videos to longacreptaenrichments@gmail.com no later than Friday, October 23rd.

Experienced artists will review your work for interpretation of theme, creativity and technique. We look forward to celebrating your artistry and achievement in the arts!

Our Physical Education teacher, Mr. Thompson, is offering modified Rise and Shine program sessions. It has been very successful and the students are really enjoying it! He offers two mixed age-group sessions each Friday. The program will be similar in design to our Rise and Shine morning program except it is outside with social distancing.

The next session is Friday, October 23:

• 12:30-1:10

Here are the guidelines for participating:

• Participants may arrive 5 minutes before each session begins.

• Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing.

• Wear shoes that are appropriate for damp morning grass.

• Students must wear a mask while participating and adhere to social distancing guidelines.

• Participants should bring their own water bottle.

• Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from the program. Please arrive for drop-off and pick-up promptly.

Due to the program being conducted outdoors, we will need to cancel if there is inclement weather. Should this occur, we will send an email out the morning of the sessions.

Come and enjoy some Halloween fun at Longacre! We are going to take a book stroll around the Longacre field and grounds, with some prizes and giveaways along the way. This is a revised version of our annual Trunk or Treat event to ensure safety while providing an opportunity for students and families to enjoy Halloween festivities.

Please join that Longacre PTA for our next Dining Days Out fundraiser at Basement Burger Bar (33316 Grand River Avenue, Farmington, MI 48336) on Monday, October 19th from 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Present a paper or electronic copy of the flyer when picking up your order and Basement Burger Bar will donate a percentage back to the PTA. This is for carry out!

Classroom teachers will be reaching out to you in the next couple of weeks to schedule a one-on-one parent/teacher conference. Our official conference dates are October 27 and 29; however, each teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule a time to meet. Please note that our Kindergarten parent-teacher conferences will occur in November.
