PRIDE Under Construction - Week #7🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family:
Another eventful and productive week of PRIDE is in the books at SDE! Our students absolutely loved being greeted by our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Frederick Williams, while enjoying Dippin' Dots ice cream in celebration of International Dot Day! Also, our PK - 1st graders were "all smiles" as they participated in the dental screenings through partnership with South Central Health District and Ambrose Dental Associates. Thank you to both for helping us continue our efforts to provide for student safety, health, and well-being.
This week, we are SUPER excited to host our PBIS Progress Pep Rally and PRIDE Buddies Camp Adventure Day on Friday, September 23rd! This 2-part event will be a non (academic) instructional day for our students, so they will not need to bring their bookbags on this date. We are requesting, however, for all students to show their SDE PRIDE by wearing their grade level's color shirt with uniform bottoms. All students and staff will be transported by school bus to the Oconee Gym to participate in our PBIS Progress Pep Rally that will take place from 9:00 am - 10:30 am. During the pep rally, we will celebrate classes and grade levels who have been consistently demonstrating our schoolwide PRIDE expectations and maintaining great attendance, as well as present each HR teacher with his/her classroom's P.R.I.D.E. flag! There will also be lots of surprises and door prizes for our students and staff.
Afterwards, we will transition back to the building to participate in our PRIDE Buddies Camp Adventure Day! During this time, each student will meet with his/her assigned "PRIDE Buddy" (mentor) staff member in a relaxed setting for PRIDE Camp, which will consist of structured, yet fun team-building activities and real life discussions. The PRIDE Buddies Mentor Program is an extension of our district's belief that a safe, secure, flexible, and loving environment promotes positive learning communities for academic achievement, personal growth, and emotional well being. Please be sure to check out the flyer below for additional details!
Finally, please make it a priority to attend our Infinite Campus Parent Portal Training on this Thursday, September 22nd. This platform will help you to have full access to monitor your child's assignments, grades, and attendance in live time. For your convenience, the session will be offered at 10:00 am AND 5:30 pm.
In the meantime, please continue to stay tuned for the many great happenings in the "Instruction Zone" at SDE.
WHO ARE WE?.... (By now, you should certainly know; however, if not, be sure to ask someone!)
Lifetouch Fall Pictures Day - RESCHEDULED for October 5th
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
