Justice Alan Page visits Eastview Elementary School
On Tuesday, Jan. 30, Justice Alan Page visited Eastview Elementary School to read his books “Bee Love (Can Be Hard)” and “Alan and his Perfectly Pointy Impossibly Perpendicular Pinky” aloud to K-5th grade students and participate in a question and answer session.
“I am incredibly thankful for the support of our community as this visit from Justice Page was made possible through an involved family,” said Eastview Principal Taber Akin. “Our entire school enjoyed Justice Page’s read-aloud and appreciated his advice to be kind and respect the differences of others.”
Eastview Elementary 1st grade teacher Jessica Suby collaborated with the Fisco family of Lakeville Area Schools to make this unique opportunity available to Eastview students. In addition to Justice Page’s read-aloud, each classroom at Eastview received an autographed set of his books, generously donated by the Fisco family.
“Justice Page’s words of wisdom to our 700+ students and staff were to be kinder than you should, be honest and seek excellence,” said Suby. “Our students appreciated their time with Justice Page–he is an amazing human being.”

Meeting Recaps
Facility Task Force Updates
The Facility Task Force convened for its second meeting of the school year on Thursday, Jan. 25. The committee is working to develop a long-term facilities plan as the district continues to experience growth in student enrollment. During the meeting, district administrators presented projected construction costs and potential timelines associated with potential facilities projects identified by the committee at its December meeting. The task force discussed pros and cons of each proposed project.
Looking ahead, the administration is assembling project packages. These packages will be presented to the task force for review during their next meeting.
In an effort to gather valuable insights from the community regarding facility needs and other matters, the district will be conducting a community telephone survey in February. The results of this survey, conducted by the Morris Leatherman Group, a Twin Cities-based survey company, will be provided to the task force for analysis in order to help develop a long-term facilities plan. We encourage community members who receive a phone call to actively participate and share their input.
The district will continue to keep the community informed on the work of the Facilities Task Force.
Members of the Facility Task Force include parents, residents, employees or officers of collaborating organizations, and employees of Lakeville Area Schools.
