Normandy Park School
Week of June 14th
I hope that everyone had a great weekend!
As we enter the last week of school, I would like to take the time to sincerely thank the entire NPS community for their ongoing partnership. This year, students learned differently- virtually and in-person. Through hard work and perseverance, students continued to grow academically and social emotionally. There are many lessons we can bring forth with us next year, as we continue to learn and grow.
Please note that next year, NPS will transition back to our multi-age model. I am excited for the return to multi-age.
Last week, students participated in Field Day. Despite the heat, students had fun participating in a variety of fitness and game stations. In addition, on Thursday and Friday, our 5th graders celebrated their moving up ceremonies with teachers, classmates, and families! Congratulations and best of luck to all our 5th graders as they embark on their journey to middle school! Thank you to our HSA Moving Up Parent Committee for supporting such a great event!
Our last day of school for this school year is June 17th, 2021. Report Cards and iReady Reports will be sent home via backpack. Virtual students will receive this information through the mail.
MSD will continue to share important information on the Coronavirus Update Center and on our MSD Forward pages.
Please know that I am here to help and support in any way that I can. I will continue to keep the community posted on updates throughout the summer. I will be in the office, so please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone.

Field Day 2021
This year, NPS hosted Field Day on June 7th and June 9th.
A big thanks to Mr. Duffus for organizing and running Field Day for all of our students! Thank you to all our specialists and staff who worked Field Day stations today. Thank you to our office staff and Officer Doug for helping with Field Day arrival and dismissal.
Girls on the Run
In addition, I would like to thank all of the Girl on the Run Students for their Community Impact Project. After Field Day, they conducted a community clean up of NPS!
Summer Reading Program
Rising 1st through Rising 5th:
The Morris School District K-5 schools are grateful to have received a Morris Educational Foundation summer reading grant. This grant will enable us to provide each elementary student with their own copy of grade-level summer reading material, which will be distributed during the last week of school. If your child is all virtual, your building principal will communicate pick-up information. Please click on the link below to review the content of the book that has been selected for your child’s grade level. Each book has been carefully selected to align with grade-level reading standards, MSD curricular guidelines, and developmentally appropriate themes. However, if you do not feel the book is suitable for your child, or if you simply need additional reading ideas, we have many other resources available for your use.

It’s hard to believe this is my final Counselor Corner for the year and I want to start off with a huge Congratulations to all of the parents and guardians as well as your families! It takes a village and You’ve done it! You made it through an extraordinarily challenging year and a half. You have managed to help your children gain resilience and grit. Now is the time for you and your family to take a breather. Keep it simple. Some people may be traveling while others will be staying local. Your children will remember the time spent together whether it be a hike, or bike ride through any of the amazing parks NJ has to offer or to the pool or beach. If you are looking are for fun activities for the kids there are lots of free or low cost activities including:
The local libraries (Morristown library also has a host of free museum passes, first come, first serve and a library of “things” you can borrow including a telescope and a ukulele).
mommypoppins.com/njkids/free-family-summer-activities (list of 100+ free activities including water playgrounds and bowling.
To all the families whose children are moving on to middle school, it has been a pleasure getting to know you and your children these past 6 years. To those who are remaining at Normandy, I remain hopeful and look forward to a return to our pre-Covid normal.
There will be a counselor available through the end of July, so if your child needs support please reach out to Mr. Miller and he can connect you with that counselor.
Have an amazing summer! Stay awesome!

Travel and Quarantine Updates
- Individuals who travel within the United States will no longer be required to quarantine upon their return to NJ, regardless of their vaccination status.
- Vaccinated individuals who return from international travel do not need to quarantine.
- Unvaccinated individuals who return from international travel still need to quarantine according to current CDC guidelines.
- All travelers should still monitor closely for symptoms and take action accordingly; for students and staff, this means following the direction of the Daily Screening forms.
Grab & Go Meals (Update)
Grab & Go meals will be available for all students, who wish to receive them. The Federal Department of Agriculture has extended waivers that will allow MSD to serve ALL students meals for FREE through June 2021.
REMINDER: Students who are not attending school in person can pick up free breakfast and lunch at Morristown High School (at the rear circle by the flagpole off of Atno Avenue) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
