FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
Another wonderful week at Doyle! We're so blessed to continue with full in-person learning. This includes not just classroom instruction, but also the opportunity to come together as a school community to celebrate the Mass, which is at the very heart of our identity as a Catholic school. I am grateful for Fr. Woolley's efforts in planning and celebrating these Masses on Tuesday (Grades 1-4) and Wednesday (Grades 5-8) of this week. It was our first time celebrating school Mass in-person since Ash Wednesday!
Please know that all RIDOH guidance was carefully followed, with masks being worn at all times, students remaining six feet apart, and stable groups maintaining at least fourteen feet from one another during Mass.
We're also excited about three other great upcoming community events:
63rd Annual Snowflake Bazaar - Saturday 10/10 8am-5pm
- Join us for this spectacular annual Parish event! Handmade holiday crafts, homemade cookies, sports memorabilia, snack café, gift baskets, raffles and more! Not to mention an appearance by Santa himself! It's sure to be a great day. I look forward to seeing you there!
PTO Halloween Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat - October 24th
- Halloween is around the corner and the PTO has worked hard to put together a fun and safe event for the community but they need your help! Please consider decorating your trunk, or carving a pumpkin or two! This year everyone attending will need to RSVP by 10/16. Please use this link or fill out the form attached below to let them know how you plan to participate, even if you just plan to Drive Thru. See the flyer & sign up under Important Forms and Documents below!
FJVD Annual Walkathon & Fun Run - Week of October 26th
- Though the format will be slightly different, we're excited to be preparing for another Walkathon & Fun Run this year! Not only is this a great community event with students enjoying an afternoon of activities, it also helps support the school with fundraising efforts going towards the advancement of our academic programs.
We have already raised over $1,500 of our $7,500 goal - this is tremendous! If you have not yet set up your Anython.com account, information on how to do so was emailed to parents and will also be sent home in hard copy today. Thank you so much for your support!
Dressing for the Weather
Students are encouraged to wear layers and warm clothing as the weather turns colder. We will continue to hold snack, recess, lunch, and physical education outdoors whenever possible. With this in mind, please ensure your child is dressed for the elements. It's not too late to order a few pieces of cold-weather Spirit Wear through our SquadLocker Store!
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Parent-teacher conferences will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, October 15th (3pm-7pm) and during the day of Friday, October 16th (7:30am-12:00pm). Based upon current guidelines from RIDE and RIDOH, conferences will be held virtually. Teachers will be sending out Zoom links in the week ahead. Conference scheduling forms were due today.
Flu Clinic: This year it is more important than ever to receive your flu shot! Father Doyle will be hosting our annual flu clinic on October 15th. Additional precautions are being taken to ensure a safe experience for all who attend. Please see the flyer attached under Forms and Important Documents for more information. Thank you!
Probable Cases & Testing Procedures: The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."
A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.
Have a great weekend everyone! Hope to see you at the Bazaar!
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
