Thompson Friday Forecast
Summer Edition #2 - August 2, 2019
From the Principal...Steve Morrill
Happy last week of summer to all!
Our Material Pick-Up Days are next Tuesday, August 6th and Wednesday, August 7th from 2:00 - 7:00 pm each day. Please see the information below in this Friday Forecast for more information about these days. Parents please pick up your student's schedule in the cafeteria when coming to material pick up days. There were a few room updates since we first opened schedules in the Home Access Center last week.
Be on the lookout for more information regarding student arrival and dismissal designated areas for our walkers, busers, and those who are dropped off by a parent. We have been partnering with our transportation department, facility department, as well as the St. Charles Police Department to develop a plan that puts student safety first!
Just a reminder that a tutorial time of 24 minutes is included in our middle school schedule. The school start and end times will not be changing, however this additional time will be used to provide students access to teachers to receive clarification, support, and guidance. On the first day of school, before their lunch/tutorial time, staff will work with students so they will be able to navigate their schedule during that portion of the day.
Also, our school improvement days will look a little different from previous years. Our SIP days will be ½ days of attendance for students. At the middle school level, students will be released at 12:10 pm while teachers will be engaged in professional learning for the remainder of the day.
Enjoy the final days of summer!
~Steve

Summer Reading
When students finish their book, they should either 1) print and complete the book log, OR 2) complete the Student Summer Reading google form. While reading ONE book is expected, we would love to see all Thompson students finish multiple books this summer. Students will participate in an activity related to their chosen book during the first week of class.
Thompson teachers and administrators love summer reading too!
Thanks for attending our Wednesday Summer Reading Meet-Ups at the Saint Charles Public Library. Remember- it is not too late to complete the public library's summer reading program (deadline is Aug. 11th) AND you also still have time to meet your TMS summer reading requirement (at least one book of your choice read by the first day of school) We can't wait to discuss all of exciting things you have been reading during our first week back!

Let's Talk has launched!
St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 has launched a new communication tool that aligns with our strategic commitment to provide opportunities for parents, community members, business leaders, and intergovernmental partners to regularly engage in the activities of schools and students.
Now, when you visit our website (district.d303.org/lets-talk), or any of our school’s sites, you will notice a feature called “Let’s Talk!” highlighted in the bottom left-hand corner of the page. When you click on that button, you will be taken to a screen where you can access hot topics, district departments, and schools. Use those interest areas to submit a question, comment, suggestion, or compliment and we will respond to your message.
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to hearing from you!
Curriculum Nights
The format for the night will give you the opportunity to meet your student’s teachers, learn about this year’s curriculum, and hear about classroom expectations while following your child’s schedule found in HAC. The evening will conclude by 8:15 pm. We hope all will be able to attend!
