Staff Highlights
PEF Star Polisher - Mrs. McClendon
Please help us congratulate Ginger McClendon on being named our Star Polisher for January!! It goes without saying the impact Ginger has had on The Grove!! We are so thankful for all she does for us!!
Wildcat Wall Of Honor
Each week our staff sends shout outs to each other and thought it would be great for our families to see not only the AMAZING things we have going on at WG but also the encouragement and appreciation our staff has for each other! Click on the link below to check them out! GO CATS!
Grover Moves On!
Grover celebrates Mardi Gras in Algebra II - After pondering who needed a fat shoutout I decided to recognize Ms. Lauren Patton. Lauren is amazing in so many ways! As a long term substitute last year at RHHS I was privileged to interact with her when I covered a maternity leave position. Lauren was patient and SO helpful for my non-Math brain and I was overjoyed to know that she'd be here at The GROVE. Her love for helping kids, whether in her class or not, to understand and use real world scenarios is awe inspiring. Not to mention she's pretty on top of attendance and is an asset to both the Math Department and Walnut Grove. Enjoy your time with Grover, you deserve it!

Attendance Information
Attendance Reminders, Tips, and Tricks
If your child needs to leave campus for ANY reason, a request must be submitted via Skyward at least 2 hours prior to when the student needs to leave. When submitting a partial-day request, you must uncheck the all-day box and enter the time the student needs to leave the school, pay close attention to AM and PM, as well as which student you are submitting for. Partial-day requests entered as full day requests will be denied. Absences entered into Skyward are automatically coded as Parent Notes, there is NO need to submit a parent note via wghsattendance@prosper-isd.net. The attendance email address is for Doctor/Dentist, DPS, court, University visits, etc.
Make sure that notes submitted cover all dates you need and include the student’s name.
ALL Skyward requests entered after 2:00 PM are not guaranteed. When checking out in person for the first time a parent, guardian, or emergency contact will need to come into the front office to check the student out of school; when doing so, a government-issued I.D. must be shown to staff. ALL checkouts (Skyward & in-person) will be halted at 4:00 PM.
Skyward also has an app that makes the checkout process much easier. Please consider downloading the app and using this option to make the process easier.
Nurse Visits
Students feeling ill while in class need to go to the nurse rather than just solely contacting their parents. This allows for them to leave class and to be closer to the office upon check-out.
Student Highlights & Activities
*If your student is involved in a WG program and you'd like to get something highlighted in our newsletter please reach out to that Director or Head Coach to make sure they submit the information in the form provided to the staff each week.
