Over 100 students from Brighton High School participated this year in the National German Exam offered by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). The AATG is a competitive and difficult exam that is made up of authentic audio, video and written sources to test students’ knowledge and understanding of German. Frau Dr. Geiger is very excited to announce that this year once again a Brighton student won the scholarship. Congratulations to Elise Hosmer who won and accepted a scholarship for a study trip to Germany. Elise, who is an outstanding Brighton German student was among the 58 students selected from across the US to receive an all-expense-paid summer study trip to Germany. The study trip includes round‐trip air transportation to Germany from New York or Newark, a homestay in a host family, and excursions to places of cultural and historical significance.

An impressive showing by the BHS Esports Team
This past season our CS:GO team was entered into the Redemption Road Tournament as a play in style bracket for the overall National Championship.
Our team went on quite the run in the single elimination win and advance playoff and won!
This propelled them in the standings, however; they ended up going against the Number 1 Team and fell just short of the potential in person National Elite 8 Tournament.
Congratulations on a great season:

BHS Presents "The Children's Hour"
Brighton High School's Spring Play is "The Children's Hour" by Lillian Hellman. Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 in the BHS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 at the door (cash or check).
Directed by Colleen Parent, "The Children's Hour" is a serious adult drama about two women who run a school for girls. After a malicious youngster starts a rumor about the two women, the rumor soon turns to scandal. As the young girl comes to understand the power she wields, she sticks by her story, which precipitates tragedy for the women. It is later discovered that the gossip was pure invention, but it is too late. Irreparable damage has been done.
This production may not be suitable for children or individuals sensitive to certain themes, as it contains depictions of bullying, violence, homophobia, intolerance, and suicide.
There will be talkbacks following the performance with students, counseling staff, and local mental health professionals discussing the show's mature themes.

Girl Up creates a GoFundMe to support Women for Afghan Women.
Women in Afghanistan currently lack fundamental rights including education and safety. To combat this harsh reality, BHS's Girl Up club is fundraising in support of Women for Afghan Women, an organization that provides emergency and humanitarian aid to families in need. If you could donate even a small amount, it would be greatly appreciated."
The goal is to spread word about the cause and raise enough money to benefit women in Afghanistan lacking basic rights. I have included the link here:
Brighton/Israeli Exchange
Brighton High School is once again excited to participate in the BHS-Israeli Exchange. Even though the program is jointly sponsored by the Brighton Central School District and the Jewish Federation of Rochester, this is intended to be a strictly cultural and non-religious exchange. As such, any BHS student can participate.
We are offering the opportunity to all BHS students to participate as either a host family and/or as part of a BHS-chaperoned student exchange trip to Israel. The Israeli students from our sister city Modi’in will be visiting us October 1st-October 12th, 2023. Our trip to Israel will take place during our 2024 February break.
