A Word about Lakeland School District

Greetings Grizzly Families,

Thank you so much for your attention to all of the district communication about the upcoming replacement levy. I know it has been a lot of information! We cannot emphasize enough that this is a replacement of the current levy, and not an additional levy.

We are proud of the fact that we have supported our community through being the only Kootenai County District providing full-time, in-person education for the entire school year. We are committed to being as consistent as possible for families. We know this stability leads to the best school environment and greatest learning opportunities for students. I'm now asking, again, for our communities support by voting on March 9th.

As you are aware, Lakeland Schools, along with over 80% of school districts in Idaho, must rely on our communities to supplement money from the state to support the actual cost of current programs. Our students have the most to gain or lose from this replacement levy election. It is critical that current parents and patrons of the school show up to vote.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns or comments, please know that I am available to visit any time.

Respectfully,

Jake Massey, Principal

Student Led Conferences- March 11th

We're looking forward to SLCs again this year! We're planning to hold this even just like we have in previous years and also keeping in mind a "remote" alternative, just in case. This is a no student day. Your child's teacher will send out information about how this will work closer to the event.

UPDATE- Student Led Conferences- March 11th

Please see the following plan for student-led conferences this year:

We're excited to announce that we are going to equip students to complete student led conferences at home! This powerful conversation will be in the hands of students. We're able to do this because the process should 100% driven by students.

This year looks a little bit different since we are sending home materials to complete this student-led conference at home instead of hosting the event at school. Thursday, March 11th, will still be a no-student day and our teachers will be available to if you have any questions or feedback about your student's presentation at home.

We have been working hard to prepare this experience by setting goals and working on tracking progress along the way.

Monday, March 8th:

  • Materials for conferences will be sent home.

Monday -Wednesday:

  • Please complete the student led conference at home and complete the parent survey for each of your children. The parent survey will be sent out digitally on Monday, March 8th and also via paper form. Please complete whichever is easiest for you- you do not need to complete both.

Thursday, March 11th:

  • No Student Day- Teachers will be available for follow up on student-led conferences

Garwood Staff Member of the Month

We have had a blast this year honoring one special staff member each month. We are so fortunate to have a staff that goes above and beyond for students and community daily. This is our way of honoring them and their contribution to our school!

Meet Ms. Sydney! Ms. Sydney is our Behavior Intervention Coordinator. She works with students all around the school, helping them to be best set up for success while at school. She is an expert relationship builder, and many staff and students have come to rely on Ms. Sydney's expertise!

Thank you, for all you do Ms. Sydney! We're so grateful for you!
