- Celebrating work anniversaries this week - Preston Washburn, Sewer Maintenance - 3 yrs
- The CITIZEN hosted a Community Unity Rally to bring our community together following a domestic murder, officer shooting & kidnapping within a few weeks of each other. Appreciation was expressed for our 1st Responders from Police, EMS & Emergency Room for their professionalism, empathy, & concern for those who have been harmed.
This week
- Assistant Fire Chief Camron White prepared Fire Prevention lesson plans for 900 students in K-5 with extremely positive feedback from schools.
- A delegation from Japan Productivity Center visits US to gather background information to deliver Communities of Excellence Framework to Japanese communities. They will be visiting San Diego, Toledo, Excelsior Springs, NW Missouri & Fort Collins next week.
- Grant applications under development to make Hall of Waters improvements. Please visit hallofwaters.com & leave your stories of why the Hall of Waters matters to you.
- Mark Spohn, Reggie St. John, & Molly McGovern attended the Baldrige/Communities of Excellence Conference this week, received the Silver Certificate for our Journey toward Excellence & shared strategies for community improvement from other cities.
- Concrete/Pavement repairs - Marietta@Broadway, Joy St., West St., & several utility street cuts. Pavement repair on S. Titus.
- Placed order for 200 Ton of salt for snow removal, delivery expected in late October.
- Received notification from Battliner they will no longer accept plastics, the container @ recycling center was removed.
- Community Grants awarded $7,500 to DEP to provide Trolley Services during downtown events, Small Business Saturday/Holiday Shopping Promotions to encourage shopping local, & purchase of new Christmas displays. Awarded $5,500 to Chamber of Commerce for Farmer's Market expenses & Water Fest. Awarded $2,000 to Friends of the Wells to analyze 3 mineral water wells to determine viability to be returned to use. All grant requests were funded.
- Community Center Pool Update - the pool floor is complete, on Monday will begin pouring deep end walls. On Tuesday will start forming break walls, late in the week, storm boxes are to be delivered & excavation will proceed to prepare for deck pours.
- Century Park Update - we hope that drying will continue of materials that has been taken out & put on banks. The following week all hauling should be completed. Next steps will be rebuilding the dam & final removal of selected trees.
- Hall of Waters Update - working on concrete railings on the north porch, full depth repairs on Water Bar floor/Pool ceiling ready to begin. Selected lighting replacement for the water bar center island.

Just a reminder in light of recent & crazy events in our area that our town is not entirely bad & is still full of decent & reasonably caring people. It's also very scenic here & don't forget to forego shopping at the big box stores & do some business with smaller ownership & ties to our area. Read it on Facebook.
