A Note from Mrs. Goldsworthy
Dear CSSE Families,
The second semester is underway, and we are halfway through our school year! Hopefully all our students are getting back into the groove, and will be ready to make the most out of the coming months. Report cards for PK4-8th grade will be emailed this evening. If you do not receive your student’s report card, check that your FACTS contact information is up to date and that there are no financial holds from outstanding balances.
There will be no school on Monday, Jan. 15th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We’ll be back to school on Tuesday barring any inclement weather conditions.
There is a high probability of inclement weather in the coming days. I am always watching the weather, and am in communication with area Archdiocesan school leaders/colleagues. Should there be a weather closure or delayed start for CSSE, we will send notifications on the news, social media, and ClassTag. Please make sure your ClassTag app is up to date and that notifications are turned on. School closure will also affect practices and Aftercare. CGSAA sports have weather policies in place as well that they will communicate on their CGSAA website or through coaches.
With the cold weather, we are going to make Tuesday, Jan. 16th a special Two Buck Tuesday where students can wear a beanie and bring a blanket for a $2 donation to the Safety Fund. This is similar to our $5 day, but only uniform or jeans with a spirit shirt will be allowed for dress code. This is NOT a free dress day. Blankets need to be able to fit in a regular size grocery bag or in the backpack. Please hand in money to teachers on Tuesday morning.
The portal to apply for the Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit is still open. All school families are encouraged to apply to receive the tax credit to assist with tuition, starting this semester! The application can be found at www.parentalchoice.ok.gov.
There is a lot to look forward to this semester, so make sure you keep doing what you’re doing, and read the Eagle Express weekly!
Faith Forward,
Mrs. Goldsworthy
Ticket sales and donor packages are now open for our annual gala! Save the date for February 3rd, and get ready for our party with a purpose! The gala is the biggest fundraiser of the year to benefit our school. This year’s gala profits will help us complete the purchase of new playground equipment.
Tickets
Visit onecau.se/steugenegala2024 to purchase your tickets to the event! Contact gala@steugenes.org if you have any questions.
Last Chance for Gala Shirts
Today, Jan. 12, is the last day to purchase your 2024 gala t-shirt. When viewing from your phone, click the “Purchase” icon at the bottom of the screen. If viewing from your computer, click the “Purchase Gala T-Shirt” on the left side of the screen. Shirts can be picked up from the church office starting Monday, February 5.
Sponsorships
We are looking for sponsorships, and we have some great packages! Maybe you want to be a Groovy Gold or Studio 54 sponsor? Consider a Family sponsorship for $500 - which gets you 4 tickets to the event and signage with your name or company logo!
Raffle
Students will be bringing home raffle ticket to sell! Check backpacks for packets. Please consider selling at least one book per family to help us reach our fundraising goal. Each student who sells two books will receive a keychain. The top student sellers will receive a gift card! 1st: $200 gift card, 2nd: $100 gift card, 3rd: $50 gift card. The top selling class will earn a pizza party! Turn in tickets to the school office by Jan. 31st. The raffle prize is either $5,000 or one year of CSSE tuition up to $5,000. Need not be present to win.
It will be a fun evening out with other adults. Our gala committee and community are looking forward to seeing you in February! Oh, What a Night it will be!
Spelling Bee
The CSSE Spelling Bee for 1st-8th grade is coming up January 18. If your child would like to participate, please sign up your student by NOON on Jan. 17th! Meanwhile, students may begin studying the word lists.
Catholic Schools Week is Coming!
Save the date for Catholic Schools Week - we will celebrate Jan. 28th through Feb. 3rd! We will have a weeklong service project in addition to dress up days, treats, and activities that help us celebrate the many parts of our school community that are integral to a complete Catholic education
The Catholic Schools Week 2023 – 2026 theme is “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community.” Catholic schools have an irreplaceable role in the Church’s evangelizing mission. Building on the central goal of Catholic schools to form saints, Catholic schools teach and embrace the whole person, body, mind and spirit. The fact that all members of a Catholic school community share the Christian vision of faith that Christ is the foundation of Catholic education is what unites the school as a faith-filled community. #csw2024
Holy Family Art Contest
All CSSE students are invited to participate in a Holy Family art contest! Use any 2D art medium to create the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph! Use your imagination and create them at prayer, at work, or at play! Entries may not be larger than 8.5x11" and must be two dimensional (drawing, painting, digital print, collage, etc - no sculptures). Your name and grade should be on the back. Turn in to Mrs. Whitmire by Monday, Jan. 22nd. Multiple winners will receive a gift card, and their art work will be used for something special during Catholic Schools Week Jan. 28-Feb. 3, 2024! Winning entries revealed Jan. 31st.
Beacon Testing
Please make sure students arrive at school on time and avoid scheduling appointments during the school day from Jan. 17th-26th. We will be administering Beacon Testing to students in grades 3-8 during that block.
Soccer Sign Ups
It’s time to sign up for CGSAA Soccer! Girls and boys in Kindergarten through 8th grade may participate in co-ed teams. We also need coaches at all grade levels with Safe Environment approval and PLACT training. Sign up deadline is March 1st. https://bit.ly/csse24soccer
