Building the Future - Promoting Lifelong Readers and Learners
If you are always wondering if your child has homework, I promise you that every teacher is asking your child to read outside of school and research is saying at least 30 minutes. Now, this may be a combination of you reading to your child and your child reading to you, but to make the long lasting impact on educational success and creating a lifelong learner, parents MUST be involved in promoting literacy. If you are needing more to read at home, please let us know and we will be happy to assist.

Inclement Weather Planning 2023-2024
Dear JCSC Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for your support of our students, staff, and schools this school year! We appreciate your quick connections to our new communication platform Parent Square, helping us navigate the construction at the beginning of school successfully, and the high attendance at school events. If you have any questions or need help with Parent Square, please contact your child’s school, and they will be able to assist in making sure you are connected.
As we begin to prepare for possible inclement weather this upcoming winter, we would like to share some updates and planning information. Schools in Indiana are limited to three days where we may use eLearning days (teachers post assignments online and students work at their own pace at home). In addition to the three eLearning days, schools are allowed to use traditional make-up days and/or live virtual learning. Live virtual learning days are days where students log in to Google Meets for classroom instruction. Schools are required to provide live teacher-led instruction on these days.
Jennings County School Corporation will utilize a schedule to plan which types of days will be used if school instruction must change due to inclement weather (snow days). We would like to share that schedule with our families, so they may also be prepared in the event of the need to change instruction due to poor road conditions or snow.
JCSC Inclement Weather Planning 23-24
Day 1 - eLearning Day (Students work online at their own pace, no live instruction)
Day 2 - eLearning Day (Students work online at their own pace, no live instruction)
Day 3 -Virtual Learning Day (Students will complete live online learning. Students must login to class times for live lessons from the teacher online.)
Day 4 and beyond - Virtual Learning Day (Students will complete live online learning. Students must login to class times for live lessons from the teacher online.)
Additional Option: JCSC may also call a traditional snow day. During this type of day, students do not complete any online work at home and instead make up the missed day on another date. If this option is needed, the first scheduled make up day used would be April 1st.
