WCAI Visit to MRHS
WCAI-NPR broadcasted live from the halls of Monomoy Regional High School earlier this week. They spoke with students, faculty, and administrators, and shared about some of the amazing things happening in our school. In case you missed the live broadcast, you can listen to the full show here!
Robotics Team Tournament
Led by coaches, Larry Souza and Rich Oldach, the MRHS Robotics team participated in the Winter Classic VEX Tournament at Mashpee High School last weekend. This was the first tournament of the year - more than 30 teams from around New England participated! The teams competed in matches and skills challenges using both autonomous and remote-controlled robots designed and built by the students.
New Interact Club T-Shirts!!
Thank you so much to the Rotary Club of Harwich-Dennis who donated the awesome new Interact Club t-shirts. Caroline Vitolo made the wonderful design that the club voted on for our shirts. In addition to the shirts, the Rotary members collected warm clothing donations and toiletry items for our collaboration with the StreetReach Homeless program in Hyannis.
We have several volunteers signed up to help at the breakfast at the end of January.
If anyone has large reusable bags, please bring them to Mrs. Casey in Guidance before Jan. 26. The homeless use the bags to gather items they need at the StreetReach event.
MRHS Alumni Concert 2024
The annual alumni art show and concert was held at MRHS on Thursday, January 4. The show featured MRHS alums, the current Jazz Band, Concert Band, Select Choir, and grades 8-12 Chorus students. As always, it was a fantastic night filled with great music!
For those who missed the Alumni Concert, CLICK HERE to watch videos of each performance!
MRHS Key Club Recent Activity
OCTOBER:
- Many members volunteered at the Cranberry Festival to help setup in preparation for all of the businesses.
- We also built spooky candy goodie bags for Monomoy Community Services for Halloween.
NOVEMBER:
- We hand-made lots of cards for veterans and personally delivered them to both Minglewood and Liberty Commons! This made all the veterans very happy! We even got to meet Ms. Howe's 95-year-old Father, Lt. Col. Charles F. Donahue (Photo below). He is a 3 war veteran- WWII, Vietnam & Korean War- who served in the Army for 20 years!
DECEMBER:
- A group of members helped out at the Holiday Bazaar at Harwich Elementary School.
- Also during the holiday season, nine students from Key Club volunteered to help out at the Elf Movie Event in the Chatham Orpheum Theater. Volunteers helped check kids in and passed out popcorn and other snacks during the movie. Everyone was decked out in their holiday gear and had fun helping out the kids!
- Key Club had two successful beach cleanups at Red River Beach and Harding's Beach within the last couple of weeks (Photos Below).
- We are planning to do one more Chatham beach cleanup before the semester is over. More information is soon to come.
