The Tonasket setting is rural with magnificent topography of mountains and valleys. The Okanogan River, part of the Columbia River system, flows through the town of Tonasket. There are many lakes in the area, some large and others quite small. The climate is best described as semi-arid with four definite seasons.

School Bus Driver Substitutes
The district provides all of the training necessary to obtain your Class B CDL with air brake, passenger, and school bus endorsements as well as an authorization to drive school bus from the OSPI. All of the training is free and you will be paid during training. Pay starts at $20 per hour. JOB DESCRIPTION
School Bus Driver
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
WORK DAYS: As assigned
POSITION SUMMARY
Operate a school bus in a safe and efficient manner, transporting students to and from school and school activities in accordance with state law and district policies and procedures.
DUTIES:
Drive assigned school bus on assigned routes and/or school activities in according to state law and district policies and procedures.
Attend required training courses and meetings.
Instruct and conduct students in emergency bus evacuation drill procedures.
Instruct and manage students in safe and proper school bus conduct.
Maintain knowledge of and follow District policies and procedures.
Work cooperatively with all staff.
Be punctual, regular, and dependable in performing duties and responsibilities.
Clean school bus interior and exterior.
Fuel school bus.
Install rear tire chains.
Complete all required forms and paperwork accurately and promptly.
Other duties as assigned.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or organizations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, by addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Physically able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or
- move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Mac computer experience to read email.

EDUCATION:
High School diploma
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Washington State driver鈥檚 license with Class B CDL and passenger and air brake
endorsements.
Current School Bus Driver Authorization.
Current first aid card.
Current medical card.
Current Type I School Bus Driver Physical Certification.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
