Employee Wellness Spotlight
Showcasing CPS Employees who are improving the well-being of our community!
Julie Roberts-RN at Ridgeway Elementary
Per Julie's coworkers "Julie has a passion for health and wellness. She models healthy habits every day and is always looking for good resources to share with our parents as well. She took the initiative to start running club to provide an opportunity for physical activity while also having social interaction. She decided to do it for shorter more frequent sessions than most clubs (most clubs are an hour after school but only meet 5-6 times a semester) and to do it before school in hopes it would positively benefit student learning through morning exercise. EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
Habit Tracking to Start Your New Year
If you want to stick with a habit for good, one simple and effective thing you can do is keep a habit tracker. Habit tracking offers a signal of whether you are making progress or need to change course towards reaching a goal. Habit formation is a long race. It often takes time for the desired results to appear. So while you are waiting for the long-term rewards, you need a reason to stick with it in the short-term. You need some immediate feedback that shows you are on the right path.
Habit tracking is powerful for three reasons:
1. It creates a visual cue that can remind you to act.
2. It is motivating to see the progress you are making. You don't want to break your streak.
3. It feels satisfying to record your success in the moment.
Ideas for you to track could be exercise for 20 minutes, take vitamins every morning, or even completing household chores like making your bed!
If you want to learn more about habit tracking, sign up for the free email course 30 Days to Better Habits
There are lots of free habit trackers online! I have included one below for you to get started today!
