District 103
School Board Highlights
February 13, 2024
Amended School Calendar
The Board reviewed an amended school calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. The revised calendar includes a week-long break for Thanksgiving and moves fall conferences to late October. The Board also reviewed a proposed 2025-2026 calendar following a similar schedule. On both calendars, winter and spring breaks are aligned with Stevenson High School. The Board will act on both calendars at the February 27 board meeting.
Enrollment Projections
The Board reviewed enrollment projections for the next five years. Enrollment is projected to remain fairly unchanged for the next several years. Administration uses enrollment projections to help guide staffing needs. K-8 enrollment this year is 1,870 students.
iPad Refresh
The Board reviewed an iPad refresh for Grades 1 and 5 as well as for certified staff for summer 2024. The technology team is looking to purchase the latest iPad 10 for about 585 students and staff. The board is expected to act on this purchase at a later meeting.
Early Childhood
The Student Services Department has promoted next year’s extended day and half day programs to the community and believes there is enough interest to move forward with the program according to a Board report. Dr. Gina Finaldi, Director of Student Services, shared with the board it is anticipated that about 50 community peers along with students with Individualized Education Plans will be registered for the program for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. The district will continue to monitor the enrollment and begin planning for the extended day blended program for the fall.
