GCA Weekly Update
2/9/24
Hello Spartan Community,
Save the Date!! - GCA’s 2nd Annual Multicultural Luncheon - March 1, 2024
Planning is in the works for our amazing multicultural food, dance, and music experience. Start thinking of what food you can prepare to share your culture. You can perform a dance to show diverse arts. If you play an instrument that shares a cultural sound, be ready to sign up to perform on the day. A signup form will be sent next week.
In conjunction with Take Charge Cats from the University of Arizona, the GCA Math Department has been offering FREE finance classes during high school lunch on Fridays. The next class is Credit Basics on Friday, 2/23, and Credit Reports on Friday, 3/1. All high school students are welcome to spend their whole lunchtime on these days in room 125. You may, of course, eat lunch while you learn!
Saturday Tutoring
Mrs. Sprinkle will hold Saturday Latin Tutoring this Saturday, February 10, in her classroom (room 125) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Bring $5 to get as much help as you want.
GCA Good Things
Three of our athletic teams made the post-season state tournament. Unfortunately, girls' basketball and soccer lost earlier this week. Our boys' basketball team plays their game tonight. Good luck, gentleman. Great season, ladies.
Put a Happy Birthday message on the Marquee. Messages are available for a $10 donation.
GCA Music News
Good luck to Advanced Vocal as they perform for judges at the makeup event for the NAU Jazz/Madrigal festival today. Due to weather conditions up north, they were unable to make it to NAU this weekend. However, they are participating in a makeup festival today at Mountain View High School. We are excited to hear how you did!
The GCA Orchestras will present their third quarter concert next Thursday, February 15th. The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the MJHS auditorium, and students should arrive in their designated warm-up room at 6:30 p.m. wearing their black concert clothes. The anticipated run time is, at most, 75 minutes. Please come and enjoy an evening of wonderful music from these great students!
Please put our other third-quarter concert dates on your family calendars:
Band, Tuesday 2/20/24, 7 pm at MJHS. Student call time is 6:30 pm.
Choir, Monday, 3/4/24, 7 pm at MJHS. Student call time is 6:00 pm
