Family Update - 10/11/22

Dear Scott Families,

We had a great week at Scott DL as excitement built toward our big Hispanic Heritage Cultural Tour on Friday! We are looking forward to our final week of celebrations, with the big finish: the Kermés Family Fair and PTO Fundraiser!

The 1st annual Hispanic Heritage Cultural Tour was a SUCCESS! Students enjoyed Antoni Gaudi-inspired art project led by the Washburn University Art Lab, Bilingual Storytime led by TPS’s own Dr. Pilar Mejía (Director of Cultural Innovation), Lalo Muñoz (Board of Education President), and Melanie Stuart-Campbell (Board of Education Member and author of the children’s book: Alba). We were also lucky enough to have a celebrity in our midst! Roger Ortega, Spotify-verified recording artist shared his inspiring story and performed for the students. Conferences will be here before we know it! Parent / Teacher Conferences will be held both in person or remotely (Zoom). Click here to schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher.

October is anti-bullying month. Oct. 24-26, students are encouraged to participate in our theme days related to peace. Each day, we will hear a brief student-led announcement about practical ways to “keep the peace”!

• Doors open and breakfast begins at 8:20 a.m.

• Instruction begins at 8:40 a.m.

• Late Start will be on Fridays

• Doors open at 9:10am

• Instruction begins at 9:30 a.m.

• PreK: Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m.

• K-5: Dismissal is at 3:40 p.m.

• Don't forget to check your student’s backpack daily!

• If you know that your child is going to be absent, please call the school at 785-235-7480.

• If you need to pick your child up early, please be advised that we will call them down to the office once you arrive at the school.

• If you need to change the way your child goes home, please call the office by 1:00 for us to have time to communicate those
