YOU ARE INVITED...
The City of Yorba Linda, the City of Placentia, and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District are excited to announce that the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program for the Yorba Linda+Placentia Active Transportation Plan has officially begun! As part of the SRTS program, we will be visiting your school to observe student drop-off/pick-up behavior and host a walk audit shortly after or before the observation. We have scheduled your school's observation and walk audit for Tuesday, February 13, starting at 7:30 a.m..
What is a walk audit? A walk audit is a guided walk where your school community has the opportunity to share information about the streets around your school and commuting behaviors so that the project team can better understand barriers and challenges to walking and biking. Walk audits usually take about 1 hour to complete. We encourage parents and caregivers to attend, as we find this level of participation makes walk audits more successful!
Thank you to those who attended the Trimester 2 Coffee with the Principal! For those who couldn't attend, I am attaching the presentation here.
It's Annual Survey Time!
Parent Survey
The Educational Services Department will coordinate with the Public Relations Office to send out the parent survey.
The survey will take parents approximately 3-6 minutes to complete.
Families are encouraged to complete the survey more than once if they have children at multiple school sites.
Please place a link to the parent survey on the homepage of your website on 2/1. The survey will also be linked on the District website.
Also, please send out an automated message during the survey window. Here is a suggested message (please edit as appropriate):
Good Evening [insert school name] Families,
This is Principal [insert name] with a friendly reminder to take the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) parent survey online before Friday, February 24. As parents and guardians, your feedback is extremely important and will help PYLUSD, as well as [insert school name], improve. To access this year’s parent survey, you will find it on the front page of the district’s website as well as on our school’s homepage.
Student Survey
Students in third & fifth grade will be participating in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s (PYLUSD) annual student survey beginning on Thursday, February 1, 2024. The purpose of the survey is to collect district-wide data about our focus areas including academics, instruction, safety and wellness, student engagement, technology, and health needs.
You may review the questionnaire in your school office or at our district office front lobby located at 1301 E. Orangethorpe Avenue, Placentia, CA 92870, or it can be emailed to you. If for any reason you do not wish your son or daughter to participate in this annual survey, please contact your school.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Will your child be turning five between September 2, 2024, and June 2, 2025? Or are you considering keeping your child out of kindergarten for an additional year? If so, enroll them in the district’s award-winning transitional kindergarten (TK) program now offered at all elementary schools!
TK is an early kindergarten experience for children that allows young learners to grow in an environment tailored to meet their academic and social-emotional needs. It serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten and ensures developmentally younger children are ready for kindergarten and beyond.
TK students are in school for 3 hours and 20 minutes five days a week. The program includes an AM and a PM model with students attending from 7:50 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. to 12:55 p.m.
Orange County School of Computer Science at Bernardo Yorba
As you may now be aware, the PYLUSD Board of Education unanimously voted to approve Bernardo Yorba Middle School to become a district-affiliated charter school in the 2024-2025 school year. As your student prepares to enter 7th grade we want you to have as much information as possible about the Orange County School of Computer Science.
Additionally, we want to invite you to tour the new charter school. You will have the opportunity to see a Computer Science lesson in progress and see a couple classes in action. There will also be a Q & A session. Please complete this google form if you are interested in attending a parent tour.
If you are interested in enrolling, it is anticipated that spots will be limited. Enrollment is now open and priority enrollment closes on Friday, February 16, 2024. Click here to access the enrollment form if you are interested in completing the enrollment process now.
For up-to-date information, we encourage you to follow them on Instagram @OCSCSEducation and please visit their website for the details of their learning model and Computer Science Immersion program by clicking here.
