Technology Class Updates
Have been working on binary code. It's some challenging stuff! The Future Tech Professionals in Information Technology have risen to the occasion. They've just completed their Budget Project, and will be taking their practice WebXam for Certifications soon!
Web Design is working on designs for a teacher holiday project. They have earned more than 20 hours of community service in our sign shop. They've recently complete hall passes and are currently creating a Portfolio of their work and code to date. We're really proud of their hard work! Picture below of Mrs. de Groot's hall pass.
Programming is working on creating a putt putt golf course that they will need to navigate with robots. They will take the bots and create a program that allows them to touch one button and the bot will then navigate successfully. Each new iteration of the program will count as a point. The lower number of points will win. First they are going to build their stations. They'll be golfing each other's station after the New Year. They were required to use several angles inclines and declines.
Save the Date for the January Panther Table Talk!
Panther Table Talks (formerly known as Family Crew) is starting next month! The goals of Panther Table Talks are to create a stronger community among TCS@ODU staff and families, provide an open space for students and families to voice their opinions with integrity, and offer extended support and resources for our TCS@ODU families. We are hoping to bring together the TCS@ODU community to socialize and have honest conversations in a nonacademic setting.
Our first meeting will be on Zoom on Thursday, January 27th from 7:00-7:45pm. Please contact your student's crew teacher or a dean if you have any questions. The meeting link will be e-mailed out in January.

TCS@ODU Needs Your Support!
The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University has the freedom to pursue its unique educational mission within the structure of core standards and state requirements, however, state funding does not fully cover all of our expenses. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide unrestricted, critical resources that support the essentials of an Early College High School program, while allowing us flexibility to direct funds to where they are needed most such as building improvements, technology upgrades, college textbooks, and support for professional development that keeps our teachers at the leading edge of best practices in the field of education. Charitable gifts allow us to invest in those value-driven aspects that set us apart from other schools. Please join us in supporting the Annual Fund!
It is now common practice for a portion of our school’s annual operating budget to be supported by donations. Every member of our community is asked to participate: current parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, board members, community members and other friends.
Giving to TCS@ODU is quick and easy.
Cultural Studies Class Makes Piñatas
Cultural Studies class is working hard and making progress on their midterms. This year the class learned the history behind piñatas and created piñatas.
