Liholiho Elementary School
August 5th, 2023
New Beginnings
School year 2023-2024 kicks off in a few short days! Thank you to all who helped us prepare to welcome students back to campus, including our school custodians, contractors on our various construction projects, volunteers from Scouts, Liholiho Laulima PTA, and our dedicated faculty and staff. Summers are always too short, and you've worked wonders over that time to get us ready for Monday.
To our families, thank you for trusting us with your children. As you make final preparations for the upcoming week, I wanted to share some information that will help make the week a success.
Construction
For those of you who were able to join us on campus for Welcome Back Night, I'm sure you noticed the ongoing construction on campus. Much of what you saw was part of a drainage improvement project to protect the school from flooding that occurs during heavy rains. The project started in the 9th avenue parking lot and proceeded to work around the cafeteria and fish playground. Most of those areas are now ready for use. Work around the J and F Buildings is ongoing. Safety barriers are installed around all areas of construction on campus to limit entry. Noise and dust are issues that we will need to work through. This is a short term inconvenience, but a necessary one for the long term health of the school. Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we push through on this project.

Meal Sign Up
Applications for free/reduced meals can be accessed online at ezmealapp.com.
To make payments and check balances visit ezschoolpay.com.
Every student is issued one free picture ID badge with their legal name and barcode assigned to their personal debit account. Any card reported lost, stolen or damaged, will be replaced with a generic barcoded card for a fee of $1.00. All cards may only be used for the individual assigned to that particular account. Cash or check (payable to "Liholiho School") payment and a deposit slip for each account must be dropped in the Meal Collection Box, located outside of the school office. Payments are not to be turned in or given to the student’s teacher or to any school staff member. Parents may also open an online account to make payments and check balances via ezschoolpay.com. Second meals and all ala carte items are charged at full price, regardless of a student’s Free/Reduced Meal eligibility. Parents/Guardians will be responsible to monitor their child(ren)'s account throughout the year. If prepayments are not desired, please provide a healthy home lunch daily. Please refer to Meal Information letter(s), provided in your child's first day packet, for more detailed information.
New Court Gate
As part of the court resurfacing project, a new gate was added for entry/exit. In previous years students entered and exited the court using the gate adjacent to the 9th avenue parking lot wall. The ground near that gate is sloped, making it slippery when wet. Though that gate remains, we will no longer use it for everyday entry/exit. A new gate was created on ground that is much less sloped (see pic below).
