Standard & Poor’s raises Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s credit rating
Wall Street bond rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings recently upgraded the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s (PYLUSD) long-term and underlying credit rating (SPUR) to ‘AA’ from ‘AA-’ on existing General Obligation (GO) Bond debt. Concurrently, S&P Global Ratings upgraded the SPUR to ‘AA-’ from ‘A+’ on the district’s existing Certificates of Participation (COP).
“We are pleased about our credit increase as it reflects our district’s focus on carefully managing outstanding bond debt to ensure taxpayer dollars are optimized,” shared Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss. “This has always been the Board’s direction to staff.”
Induction Showcase highlights 81 new PYLUSD teachers and their accomplishments among mentors and district leaders
On Tuesday, May 16, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District hosted its annual Induction Showcase at Lakeview Elementary School in Yorba Linda.
In California, new teachers are required to go through a two-tiered credentialing system which includes coursework and fieldwork, in addition to participating in a two-year induction program focused on extensive support and mentoring. School districts are responsible for providing induction programs to progress teachers toward a full understanding of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. At the end of this process, teachers earn a California Clear Credential.
Career Day at Valadez Middle provides opportunity for students to learn about a variety of professions
On Wednesday, April 26, the Valadez Middle School Academy AVID team, in conjunction with school counselor, Mrs. Plascencia, hosted a very special career day. A total of 28 speakers arrived eager to share their educational and career journeys with middle schoolers. Speakers included law enforcement, medical professionals, morticians, a tax preparer, a chef, a beautician, and so much more!
