Dear Family Members,
In our continuing efforts to support the well-being of all our students, we will be administering a brief screener of social, emotional and behavioral functioning in grades 3-8 during the first week of January. This screener was done as a pilot in select grade levels last year. The screener consists of a brief rating scale completed by the classroom teacher as well as a self-rating scale completed by students. The information obtained will be confidential and only seen by your child's teacher and building student services staff. Results will be shared with parents/families after the screener is completed.
The screener we are using is the SAEBRS (Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener). SAEBRS is a norm-referenced tool that helps us to identify students who may need support with social-emotional behaviors and skills. If you would like to preview the questions, please take a moment to review them using this link.
If you would like more information about this screener and the other supports we have at school, please contact your school psychologist or school counselor.
Thank you,
Bridget Mowbray
