• Thursday 9/22- SOAR LA Marathon training meeting at 3:30pm at AOC and Mock Trial Practice from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
• Friday, 9/23- Senior Sunrise from 6:00am-7:00am and Grand Canyon University visits with Seniors.

Hey AOC families,

This is your friendly Campus Supervisor Roy with an important request. We have had many close calls with car to car, and car to pedestrian incidents in our busy parking lot and drop off loop, and it is very important that ALL of us drive carefully and slowly, and follow the traffic pattern we have laid out, when we are transiting the AOC/COC parking lot. The safety of our students, staff, and COC population is of utmost importance and my primary concern. I have been the first responder to 3 incidents of a student being struck by a car when I was a Campus Supervisor at Hart High School, and I can tell you it is no fun to deal with that. And the drivers were traumatized as well. The time saved by speeding through the parking lot is negligible, so nothing is gained by doing so. It only puts others in jeopardy.

So please slow down and be aware of others when driving your vehicle through our parking lot. Thank you, and I hope you have a successful and safe rest of the year.

Here is an informational video on SOAR, a running club that trains for the LA Marathon: https://youtu.be/H8wGsfz5cLk Students from Learning Post Academy (LPA) and Academy of the Canyons (AOC) are invited to a special meeting to learn about this running program open to all students in our district. The meting will be held at AOC in room 101 on 9/22, Thursday at 3:30pm. It's a great way to stay active and healthy!

If any AOC students are interested in learning more about law or being on a team, our Mock Trial team is preparing for the big competition and are accepting new members. Please reach out to us if you'd like to join or have your students reach out to Mr. Frame mframe@hartdistrict.org or Dr. Shapiro wshapiro@hartdistrict.org.

For any of our students interested in a career in law or politics, please consider joing Mock Trail and learn about this award.

Please watch the video about emergency preparedness at COC. In case of an evacuation, we work directly with COC. I have attached an evacuation map for any students who need to know where to go in case of an emergency. We have also included the plan if they are located on COC's campus.

College of the Canyons is looking to offer a food choice closer to the University Center for AOC and COC students. Sales tax is already included in the price. All orders must be complete by Wednesdays at 12:00pm. This is a preorder menu.

Located on the campus of College of the Canyons, AOC is proud to be the middle college high school in the William S. Hart Union High School District serving students 9th-12th grades in the Santa Clarita Valley. Students have the opportunity to earn between 24 and 44 transferable college units, prior to receiving their high school diplomas. Upon graduation, the majority of Academy students pursue their post high school education by continuing at COC and completing their college transfer requirements in only one year after high school. Other AOC students go directly into a four-year university, bringing their community college units with them and placing themselves well into their freshman and sophomore years at the college level. While attending AOC as a high school student, community college tuition is waived for established California residents.
