The first full week of school often feels a bit like a game of survival. Did you have enough clean uniforms to make it through the week? Did you stick with your resolution to have your kiddos pack their own lunches everyday? Did everybody jump out of bed as soon as the alarm went off or are some arms already sore from hitting the snooze button? Did everybody make it to bed at bedtime after bathing, brushing teeth, listening to a story and praying? Did everybody make it out the door with everything they were supposed to make it out the door with? Regardless of your level of success with these specific tasks, we believe that within our halls and walls we have not only survived but thrived! We have already laughed together, learned together, played together, made memories together, shared together and even cried a little bit together. Throughout all of my years in education, I have always remembered that parents, students and families do not care what you know until they know that you care. We are looking forward to another amazing year filled with more learning, more growing, more memory making and more laughter than tears. Thank you for joining us on this journey! We are ready to persevere together ~

THANK YOU to the Mr. Bredensteiner, Mr. Koepke, and Mr. Quarando for helping with the tear down and removal of our cubby wall systems in each of the classrooms.

THANK YOU to Mr. Bredensteiner and Mr. Koepke for hanging our "mailboxes" outside the teacher classrooms as well as cubbies in 2nd and 3rd grade. These were installed to help decrease the flow of traffic through the hallways and into the Main Office.

We are continuing to add documents and forms to our FACTS page. PLEASE check regularly for updates and information. At this time if you have NOT clicked on the WEB FORMS tab on the left hand side of your account we do ask that you do click here as there are medical forms that document important information.

Well not technically, but if you're child came home at the end of the week expressing anxiety about the pace of their days we tried to sneak A LOT in!!! Typically, we do wait until a few weeks in to complete assessments, introduce all of our online tools and resources etc. As we settled into our first week we did shift our goals a bit in order to ensure that we as an institution and ALL of our students were prepared should any individual, group or the school need to shift to a virtual experience.

Our first week going virtual was brought with lots of new things. Any time you launch a large technological effort, there are learning curves and issues that have to have additional research and support. We discovered that our cameras work differently depending on if the teacher had a docking station, and if they had a document camera plugged in or not. We also discovered the cameras function differently depending on the era of SMART Board the teachers are using. Not knowing this until we went live came with much trial and error. We appreciate your patience and believe this week will have less glitches.

We also learned that Google has had some major difficulties and outages this week, and that is something that is out of our hands. With all the virtual learning that has taken place in the world, Google has decided to roll out many updates. Some have taken place and there are still a variety of updates that are scheduled to happen between now and November. One thing we have discovered is that our teachers can not record their Google Meet live lesson if they are not the FIRST ones on the session. If you discover that you are on before your teacher, there is a good chance the teacher will ask you to get off and rejoin after them.

Saint Charles Borromeo has COUNTLESS ways for families to become involved in our community. Every PARENT is an honorary member of our Home and School organization. This organization, as well as our School Board and Athletic Association are often seeking new members to serve as Board Members and / or heads of various committees. As these roles become available we will share additional details with everyone. This year is an AUCTION YEAR which also means countless additional ways to get involved with this event. We need to be able to properly staff BASK. Due to Covid, we have limited spots due to our staffing. It is VERY important to sign up as early as possible. Please try to avoid signing up the day of, but we do know that there are times that it can't be avoided.

Please send any changes or correspondence related to BASK to bask@borromeoschool.com. This email is accessible by all BASK supervisors. Additionally, please drop a note to this email address if someone other than the typical pick up person is picking up. This helps us keep track of dismissal changes and keeps our kids safe.

****As a reminder, we prefer you pay with a check. If you need to pay with cash please contact the main office to discuss the process this year, as it needs to be adjusted due to Covid. Do NOT hand cash to the BASK workers, they do not have a place to lock it up.

The BASK Staff

For now, these are the ways that you can put money on your shared family lunch account. Due to Covid, we would prefer not to handle checks or Cash. We would prefer that you use Paypal, but you will be charged a fee unless you mark them as a "friend" or "personal". I am not sure exactly what it says, but do not choose them as a business otherwise you will be charged a fee. The fee will not show up until it is entered into the lunch account. If you give FSC $20 as a business, the fee will be taken out and the remainder will be added to your account. AS ALWAYS, PLEASE PUT YOUR STUDENTS NAME IN THE MEMO!!!! It is very difficult to add money to an account especially if the PayPal account name doesn't match a name at our school.

1) Send in a check made out to FSC with the students names in the memo

2) PREFERRED METHOD: Use PayPal (make them a "friend") and put into account fsccafe@borromeoschool.com Be sure to put students name in the memo

3) Send in cash. Put in a sealed envelope with students name(s) clearly marked.

Once you click on account, you can see what your children are purchasing.
