From the Minister of Coffee
To All,
Talk has been brewing again about Coffee Hour. This is being brought to the Board for this week's meeting and also for consideration to the Pandemic Committee. I'm up for it but this time around we will need a steady rotation of volunteers to help make this work especially due to some other obligations and my work schedule. We will be working things out to make this happen as easily as possible. We will be looking for those that can come in early, around 9:00-9:15 AM and get ready and for folks to help with clean up afterwards. Splitting the detail before and after will work so that those that have meetings or that may have to leave afterwards are able to what they need to do.
I will be willing to meet with anyone interested this coming Sunday, 7-17-2022 for discussion, ideas, concerns. Anyone interested please contact me VIA TEXT to 609-328-0514. This is the best way to reach me!
Folks that may have some thoughts, ideas, strategies, etc. for consideration ahead of the meeting can email them to me ASAP @ r.schurig2007@comcast.net Put Coffee hour in the subject line.
Let's get grinding and pour it on!!!
Thanks,
Richard Schurig, Minister of Coffee
Eastern Service Workers Association In Need
Is there a working electric typewriter down in the rear of your closet or up in your attic that can be donated to ESWA?
One of their 2 typewriter's right-hand-margin can't reset and the other typewriter doesn't type the letter 'g'!!!
Please let Colby T. know if you have an electric typewriter to donate!
Thanks so much

Blessing Bags
This summer the children and youth in our Children's RE program are exploring service to others. Our first principle asks us to treat each person with dignity and respect. We are going to make ziploc bags of things people who are unhoused might need, such as a toothbrush, deodorant, even a snack to keep them going. But we need help collecting all the items.
Please review the sign up link below and help us make this project a reality!
Donations can be brought in to UUCSJS through August 21st.
Flowers for the Chalice Table
Please speak with Colby if you wish to bring an arrangement of your choosing to our chalice table for a Sunday Service.

Guest speakers Andy Cowgill and John Sherfey
Even before the pandemic, 48% of Atlantic County households and 61% of Cumberland County households could not afford to pay for basic living expenses. Eastern Service Workers Association (ESWA) is a free and voluntary, unincorporated membership association comprised of service, temporary, seasonal and other low-paid workers, joining together with students, teachers, professionals, clergy and other concerned residents on a volunteer basis to fight for a permanent solution to the problems involving low-income workers in South Jersey.
Bios: Andy Cowgill grew up in Minnesota. After gaining a variety of experiences in community service, political organizing and activism in Ecuador, San Jose (CA), Boston and elsewhere, he became a full-time volunteer organizer in 1999. For the last 13 years, Andy has been the Operations Manager of Eastern Service Workers Association (ESWA) in Pleasantville. John Sherfey grew up in Williamstown in a family with deep roots in the South Jersey agricultural industry. John graduated from Stockton University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. John began organizing full-time in 2021, after working as a chemist and running a small business. He now serves as ESWA’s Administrative Assistant and Educational Coordinator.
PLEASE NOTE: This service will be in person at UUCSJS and streamed live on our Facebook page. A recording will be available later in the day on our YouTube Channel.
*Masks are currently optional at UUCSJS.
