Sora: This is the Overdrive app to which we have access through Monroe #1 BOCES. If you are looking for ebook titles that students can read as a class, it has small collection of simultaneous use titles under "always available" There are also single user titles of many award-winning young adult ebooks and audiobooks. Most titles are geared toward young adult or juvenile readers, but many classic texts are also available.

Libby: This is the Overdrive app to which we have access through the public library system. The titles differ from those in Sora and are not geared specifically toward students, but you can explore by "kids" or "teens." Students need a public library card to access this collection of books.

Schroeder Audiobooks: Here is a list of the audiobook titles that you can check out from our own library collection. They are all fiction or literary nonfiction. Keep in mind that while we have up to five copies of each title, they are single user copies.

Schroeder Ebooks: You can search Schroeder's nearly 250 ebooks from our library collection by selecting "ebooks" under material type. These are mainly nonfiction titles selected to support research projects. If you just want to browse, select "ebooks," then click on "keyword" without typing anything into the search bar.

MackinVia: This collection consists mainly of nonfiction works and a few works of classic literature. While the collection is small, one advantage is that many of the works are simultaneous access titles (multiple users). Titles will open directly from the library catalog if you are signed in.

Salem Press: From this vendor we have purchased a collection of high quality ebooks for research. If you are signed into Google, you can export articles to your drive.

Gale eBooks: This is one of our library databases. As with all Gale databases, teachers can assign articles through Google Classroom, and students can export articles and citations to Google Drive. Gale ebooks contains informational text and literary criticism, including Poetry for Students and Short Stories for Students.

CommonLit: This site includes short stories and essays along with annotation tools and checks for understanding. It works in conjunction with Google Classroom.

ProQuest Learning: Literature: This library database contains the text of over 800 poems, along with videos of them being read by their authors.

Project Gutenberg: This is an elibrary of over 60,000 titles that are now in the public domain (written in 1924 or prior). No apps are necessary, but the site does give instructions for reading with your Kindle, Nook, or SmartPhone.

Students who do not already have a public library card can expand their ebook and audiobook access by obtaining an ecard here.

Did you know that all New York State Residents are eligible for a New York Public Library Card? During this time getting an NYPL card is easier than ever as you can request an ecard through the Simply E app. You can read in that app, or, if you prefer the familiarity of Libby, you can add your new NYPL card number to your Libby app to expand your access to ebooks and audiobooks.

- Download the Simply E app

- Select New York Public Library as your library

- Scroll down and select "I need a card"

- Enter your name and address to confirm that you are a New York State Resident

2) Take a screenshot of your new NYPL card

3) Select the profile icon in your Libby app

4) Click on "Add a Library" and enter your NYPL library card number

5) Start borrowing!
