PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Darby Families!
Last week was full of learning for our students AND teachers. Did you know Darby Middle School is in Year Three of the Arkansas PLC Pilot Project? In 2019 we were selected through a rigorous application and evaluation process to participate in this Professional Learning Community work. We have partnered with Solution Tree and the Arkansas Department of Education to receive intensive on-site support to implement, deepen, and sustain the Professional Learning Community at Work process. This work is a proven path to educational equity and excellence. When a school functions as a PLC, educators within the organization embrace high levels of learning for all students.
The past three years we have worked side-by-side with nationally renowned educational experts from Solution Tree. We have created an action plan that focuses on increasing student achievement through aligned curriculum, formative assessment practices, and proven instructional strategies. Darby teachers are truly lifelong learners and are constantly researching new ways to empower students to grow and learn with a mindset of a Ranger. Our students deserve only the best!

Bust the myths that prevent math success!
Does your teen believe that "You're either born a math person or you're not"? This is a common math myth. Give your teen the facts: Great teaching and hard work are what make someone a math person. Here's another myth to bust: "Math takes too much memorization and repetition." The truth is that math is about learning patterns. Once a student is familiar with them, the problems make sense and the math starts to be fun.
