Western Boone eLearning Day
Information for Students
Student Expectations
All students are expected to participate in eLearning days and should expect 2-4 hours of instruction and work during these days. Assignments will be posted by 9:00 AM on the day of the event. Students should access work at that time. If school is closed after a two-hour delay was originally scheduled, assignments will be posted by 10:00 AM. Teachers will be available from 9:00-3:00 via email to respond to questions from parents and students.
During scheduled eLearning days, teachers will maintain office hours from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM. Parents and students are encouraged to contact the teacher or school at any time during the day, and should expect a response between 1:30-3:00 PM.
On non-scheduled eLearning days, teachers will maintain online office hours from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. During this time, teachers should be actively communicating with students and parents, responding to emails, responding to work submissions, participating in discussions, and answering messages.
Important Information
Attendance
Elementary students will be counted present when school work is completed during the designated make-up time (by Friday at 8:15 a.m. following a scheduled eLearning day).
Junior high and high school students will be counted present by completing an attendance quiz online. This quiz will be on the WB Students Canvas course.
Due Dates
Unscheduled eLearning Days
Assignments will be posted by 9:00 AM on the day of the event. Students must show proof of participation on eLearning days by satisfactorily completing eLearning day assignments. Elementary students should complete assignments within five school days following the eLearning day while secondary students should complete assignments within three school days following the eLearning day. If work is not turned in at the end of this period, elementary students will receive an unexcused absence and a zero for each subject not completed while secondary students will receive a zero for that coursework.
If multiple days are missed consecutively, each additional day missed adds one day to the due date.
- Example: If the elementary schools miss Monday and Tuesday due to inclement weather, Monday's assignments would be due on Tuesday of the following week and Tuesday's assignments would be due on Wednesday of the following week.
Scheduled eLearning Days
Elementary students need to complete their assignments by the Friday at 8:15 a.m. after an eLearning Day. Assignments may be graded for accuracy vs the completion grades previously given.
For scheduled eLearning days, elementary students in all grades will bring home their laptops to complete their eLearning assignments. The laptops will need to return with the student the following day.
Junior high and high school students will have assignments introduced the day prior to an eLearning Day. Students will have the opportunity to download any resources they need prior to the eLearning Day. All eLearning assignments will be due Friday at 8:15 AM.
