Hello New Tech Families,

We are in the final 6 weeks of this school year, and it is critical we finish strong! Please continue to visit the website and stay connected for the latest information regarding end-of-the-year details. Next week, Wednesday, April 13, 2022, is our district assessment day. Seniors will not be in attendance. Our Junior students will take the SAT test, while 9th and 10th graders will take the PSAT assessments. Buses will run, with Freshman and Sophomore students being released at 11:45 and Juniors at 12:45. Please continue to support your child as they work to bring this school year to a successful close. As always, I look forward to creating more great days for our students and staff!

Annually, we update our Title I School Compact and Schoolwide plan with parents. On Tuesday, April 12th, Zion-Benton Township HS District 126 is hosting its annual meeting at two different times to ensure parents who want to attend have options to do so. During the meeting we will review the District’s Title I plan and other related items. The meeting will occur via Zoom. Each year in Mr. Levy's Critical Thinking class, the students hold a mock trial on the Case of the Speluncean Explorers. Students fill the roles of judge, jurors, prosecuting attorneys, defense attorneys, defendant, and witnesses. The class spends a week researching and preparing for the trial, then two days are devoted to the trial itself. The mock trial is always one of the highlights of the semester.

Prom will be held on Saturday, April 30th, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Gurnee. Students attending prom have been given expectations regarding conduct as well as details for the night of the event.

We want all attendees to have an "Enchanted Evening" and arrive safely home on Saturday evening. Here are some resources to begin a frank conversation with your student regarding the importance of driving and riding responsibly.

Our local food pantries and mobile markets provide free groceries and food to those in need. Pantries offer perishable and non-perishable foods that you can choose from based on your dietary needs. If you have questions about the model of distribution your pantry is offering, or specific dietary needs or restrictions, a pantry would be happy to speak with you – just call ahead of time!

Only 400 students large, NT@ZB provides a highly focused educational environment within Zion-Benton Township. A part of District 126, NT@ZB is a companion campus to the larger central campus located across town. NT@ZB emphasizes 21st century learning skills in addition to its college preparatory curriculum taught in a project based learning format. Qualifying students have access to tuition-free dual credit college courses, the Lake County Tech Campus, and all students can participate in athletics as District 126 Zee-Bees!
