The Calendar Turns to October
10/1/23
Dear Brooks Community,
It's hard to believe we have turned the calendar page to October. The upcoming month brings three exciting community events; Movie Night, Walk to School Day and Trunk or Treat. We invite you to join us for these activities which bring our students and families together. This year the PTA is sponsoring an incredible Movie Night Under the Stars, this Friday, October 6. This allows all our families to participate with no space restrictions. However, this event also requires ALL of us to be diligent about the safety of our students, especially as darkness falls. All children MUST be accompanied by an adult and we ask you to maintain your children in the assigned areas of movie night (soccer field and concessions area). Thank you for your partnership in assuring a safe and spectacular evening!
Sincerely,
Terri Russell
TIGER PRIDE
Brooks School focuses daily on 3 Tiger Traits: Being SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE. Students consistently demonstrating these expectations can earn Tiger Tickets along with valuable feedback on why they have earned the ticket. Each week, we draw 2-4 student names from the tickets submitted, and those students are recognized on the announcements and they earn prizes. In addition, we work as a school community to reach a school goal. I'm pleased to inform you we have met the first "mark" on our Tiger Ticket tank and have earned our first school wide celebration. A huge thank you to Mrs. Ibby Lowery, Student Services Coordinator, for organizing school wide Bingo! Our students are in for some fun this coming Friday! Congratulations to all our students who are demonstrating Tiger Traits on a daily basis!
In addition, an Emmy Award goes to Mr. Michael Miller, grade 4 Teacher and Mrs. Daniela Palumbo, Student Services Coordinator! They taped our first edition of Tiger TV, to be aired this week! This edition highlights the Tiger Traits program along with students who have already contributed to our safe, respectful and responsible environment. Next time you visit school, check out our school photos and videos streaming on our TV inside the front entryway!
ATTENDANCE AND ON-TIME ARRIVAL IS IMPORTANT
Attendance Matters Tidbit:
Absenteeism in the first month of school can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Half the students who miss 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school. (attendanceworks.org)
