Have you ever considered hosting a high school exchange student? Hosting is a wonderful way to learn about other cultures and languages, and it results in life-long friendships that transcend national borders. Ayusa Exchange Program needs host families at La Follette for both fall semester and the academic year for students from Chile, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil, Thailand, Japan, the Netherlands, and other countries. The students will arrive in August 2021 and stay until either January or June 2022.

Host families are volunteers. They provide three meals a day, a bedroom, and a supportive home environment. Students come with their own health insurance and spending money to cover all personal expenses.

Participants in the program will immerse themselves in campus life and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and challenging learning environment, all while interacting with UW–Madison faculty at a top-ranked university. You will chose one academic track to focus on during the academic day. Class sizes are kept small to allow for an engaging course and are taught by UW–Madison instructors who have the same level commitment and involvement from Badger Summer Scholars as they would from college students. Rise Up and Write is an advocacy writing summer camp for high school students. It provides youth with the opportunity to use writing as a way to raise awareness and create change.

It is a program from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Education, the Greater Madison Writing Project, and the National Writing Project.

This is a unique opportunity for Madison youth to get involved with local government, and gain training and employment. 40-50 Madison youth will be placed in 2019 in city departments and offices such as the Clerk's Office, Community Development, Civil Rights, Economic Development, Engineering, and the Fire Department.

Youth who are selected to participate in the program will receive:

• Mandatory pre-internship training
• 8 week summer internship opportunity
• Regular mentoring and support from Common Wealth
• Mandatory weekly professional development training
• $10.50/hour for employment and training hours

Priority is given to current 11th and 12 graders. The application packet must be submitted at any of the open zoom interview meetings.

Engineering Tomorrow’s Career (ETC) Camp is a week-long outreach effort open to female high school students in the Midwest. It is run by two SWE officers who are represented by the College of Engineering Diversity Affairs Office (DAO) with support from the ETC Committee, National SWE, and the Pre-College Council. The QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program gives outstanding low-income high school juniors an early advantage in college admissions. Deadline: March 24th, 2021

Juniors/Seniors: Do not use school email for ANY matters related to life after high school.

Examples: college apps, parchment account, ACT, FAFSA, scholarship applications, etc

**School Email becomes inaccessible to graduates 2 wks after graduation

Madison College will be holding Advising and Registration sessions for newly admitted program students. Sessions begin late April and continue throughout the summer. Students will receiving academic advising for their program and hands on assistance with class registration.

Admitted students should watch for communication in the mail and email in March!
