60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Today our teachers and staff engaged in a Professional Development Day for the District. Many sessions, led by our own staff members, were held to continue to provide tools and resources to make our classrooms the very best they can be for our students, no matter the learning environment. Click HERE for this week’s episode, to learn more about what Professional Development means for the continued growth of SCS.
SPECIAL BOARD MEETING - TONIGHT (FRI. 10/16) AT 8PM
The Strongsville Board of Education will hold a Special Board Meeting tonight (Fri. 10/16) at 8:00pm. The meeting will take place at the SCS Administrative Offices (18199 Cook Avenue) and is open to the public. Tonight's meeting will include a discussion related to the COVID-19 Learning Framework Decision Protocol in our Responsible Restart Guide (found on slides 15-16) and the learning framework implemented for our District based on the COVID-19 County Risk Level.
Due to the quick turnaround, we will not be live streaming this meeting; however, the meeting will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel in the next few days.
Based on tonight's discussion, a decision on the learning framework for our District will be communicated this weekend.
SCS RESPONSIBLE RESTART COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE
Our District has created the SCS Responsible Restart Comprehensive Guide - one document in one location outlining our District’s policies and procedures. This document should be used as a guide, allowing you to quickly find answers to your questions. The guide can also be found at www.strongnet.org/restart.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, factors can change on a daily basis and this Guide will remain adjustable and flexible to respond to state and local health guidelines.
‘HERE COMES THE BUS’ APP

The app and complementary website - available on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, or personal computer - enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus on its daily route. Download the ‘Here Comes the Bus’ app to monitor daily transportation information.

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. SHEILA SERNE, TESTING ROOM AIDE AT STRONGSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Mrs. Sheila Serne has lived in Strongsville for over 30 years, and has worked in our District for 25 years. Her many responsibilities have included playground aide, educational aide, and special education aide at Surrarrer, Kinsner, and Chapman Elementary schools. Mrs. Serne is now the testing room aide at Strongsville High School. Her three children are also graduates of SHS.
“I’m proud to be working with the team of monitors and the Assistant Principals at the high school. There was an incredible amount of work that we accomplished to prepare for the beginning of this school year. As the teachers were overcoming hurdles, we were also busy registering and distributing 6,000 textbooks and assisting the media center and technology department assign over 300 Chromebooks. We all worked together as a team and the reward is seeing the return of our students,” said Mrs. Serne.
Thank you Mrs. Serne for your continued years of dedication to our District and for being part of a great team at Strongsville High School. #WeAreStrongsville
