Dear Parents,

Many thanks to all of you for your support of our Casino Royale event this year. As I mentioned earlier, this event was our most successful casino night ever. We grossed over $44,000. In the St. Anne spirit of concern and an effort to help the people in Ukraine, we have decided to donate 10% of our gross revenue to them. Additionally, our Mission Collection and Special Fundraiser going on with our Student Council will be donating those proceeds to the Ukrainian people also. We expect our total donation to be almost $6,000.00. Thanks to the help of my good friend, Archbishop John Wester from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, I have been put in contact with a priest in the Ukraine who is able to accept and distribute the money to aid the people there. You and your children are true witnesses of Christ's greatest commandment...."Love one another as I have loved you!" Thank you and may God continue to bless you, your family, and the people of the Ukraine.

I am always struck with sadness on the one hand and thankfulness on the other hand when I find out that we are losing anyone on our school staff. Sadness comes because the person is moving on and will not be with us next year. Thankfulness comes from appreciation for all that that person did for the students, parents, and staff here at St. Anne School. It is with those mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of our much beloved second grade teacher, Mrs. Susan Alioto. After 35 years of loving and devoted service here at St. Anne School, Susan has decided to retire and enjoy a slower pace of life. We thank her for all that she has given to us and wish her the very best. Mrs. Candice Sturges is moving on to continue her teaching in the Archdiocese after 18 years of teaching here at St. Anne. Mrs. Denise McCarthy, second grade aide, has decided to retire and spend her time attending to the needs of her elderly mom. After 2 1/2 years, Ms. Nancy Wong, our 4-8 science teacher, will continue teaching somewhere in SFUSD this coming year. Ms. Michelle Addae, Kindergarten, and Ms. Orlaith O'Leary, Resource Teacher, are longing to return home....Los Angeles and Ireland, respectively. Ms. Claire Gotch, Jr. High Reading, after her two years with us is moving on to get her Masters Degree in English at CUNY in New York. For all that each of them has given to all of us, we extend our sincere thanks and wish them the very best in the coming years. I am very happy to announce that I have found some wonderfully dedicated and talented teachers to fill the openings.

On Thursday, May 19 from 5:30 - 7:00 our faculty and staff will host a Thank You Hors D'Oeuvres and Wine Reception in appreciation for all YOUR countless hours and dedication in making St. Anne School...SIMPLY THE BEST! An invitation will be sent home with your child(ren) TODAY! Please RSVP by May 17. We look forward to seeing you all there!!!

Whooping cough, also known as pertussis, continues to threaten students in California. To help stop its spread, ALL incoming 7th graders are required by law to have proof of a whooping cough booster ('Tdap') shot. Be prepared and plan early - in spring or early summer - before the fall back-to-school rush. If your child has already received the 'Tdap' booster, please send us a copy of his/her immunization record to update your child's school file.
