2023-2024
A Message from Mrs. Williams
As we approach the end of the first quarter (October 20), I wanted to take a moment to remind you of the significance of this milestone and share some valuable insights on how you can support your student in finishing the quarter strong.
The first quarter has been a period of growth and learning for our students, and your partnership in their academic journey is truly appreciated. Here are a few key points to keep in mind as we wrap up this quarter:
Check-In on Academic Progress:
Take a moment to review your student's grades and assignments in Infinite Campus (IC). IC provides real-time updates, allowing you to identify any areas that may need additional attention. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers.
Encourage Time Management:
Balancing academic and extracurricular commitments can be challenging for students. Encourage your student to create a study schedule that allows for adequate time to complete assignments, review material, and prepare for upcoming assessments. Effective time management is a valuable skill that will serve them well in their academic journey.
Open Lines of Communication:
Establish open lines of communication with your student about their academic experiences. Discuss their goals for the quarter, any challenges they may be facing, and how you can provide support.
Utilize Additional Resources:
Our school offers a range of resources to support student learning, including academic support on assignments through the PASS Room. The PASS Room is open during and after school (see the PASS Room schedule below). Remind your student to take advantage of these opportunities, and feel free to reach out to our staff if you have questions about available resources.
Celebrate Achievements:
Take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate your student's accomplishments, both big and small. Positive reinforcement boosts motivation and fosters a sense of pride in their efforts. Recognizing achievements, no matter how incremental, contributes to a positive attitude towards learning.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your student's teachers. Your involvement is instrumental in creating a safe and thriving learning community.
Academic Support
Our PASS (Positive Academic Support Solution) Room is now open after school! It is open Monday - Thursday from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, and is located in the library. The PASS Room is operated by GLHS teachers who are ready and willing to provide academic support on assignments. Click here to view the PASS Room schedule.
Food Deliveries
Students are not permitted to have food delivered to GLHS from UBER eats, Grubhub, Door Dash, etc. These delivery drivers will not be permitted to enter the building to deliver food, and our office staff will not accept the deliveries.
Encourage Your Lion to Get Involved!
We have OVER 40 clubs/activities and 27 sports at GLHS! Being involved in the PRIDE offers so many benefits, such as:
- Improves academic performance
