McKay High School Newsletter
October 16 -- 20
Message from the Admin Team
This past week students and staff welcomed some relief from our regular schedule. This past Friday our McKay High School staff had the opportunity to become the students. Everywhere around the school district the adults were involved in professional development aimed to improve the student experience. This serves as a great example to our students that learning is a lifelong experience. This upcoming week students will return to our regular Monday -- Friday schedule. Please continue to check in with your student, and ask questions when you have them. Email teachers when you need help, or call into our main office if you need further assistance. As we get further into the school year, communication becomes much more important.
Take care

McKay Cross Country Update
The McKay Cross Country team has been hard at work this entire fall season. This past weekend that work paid off. Cross country had 5 PR’s this weekend and a season best at the Lewis and Clark Invitational this weekend. This is a great example of the perseverance and grit shared by our student athletes. Go Scots!
Scots-Apella Update:
Last year our McKay High School Scots-Apella crashed through the previous ceiling to win multiple competitions that led to a trip to New York City. This past week Scots-Apella began their new campaign. Below you will see pictures of a recorded live performance video. They submitted the video to ICHSA organization to compete at this year's events. Look out for future news on the locations of their performances. We are all looking forward to seeing what this group can accomplish this year.
Marching Band at the Pacific Coast Invitational
On September 30 our Marching Band competed at the Pacific Coast Invitational at Sprague High School. This group is only in their second year of existence, and has worked hard to improve. At this event they performed at a high level, placing in the top 3 of their classification.
Safety Updates
Student(s) Sick
Fall has arrived and we know that this will bring our cold and flu season. If your student is showing signs of illness (high temperature, stomach nausea, runny nose etc. …) please call the main office and excuse them from attending school on that day. Most classroom teachers have some way for students to remain connected via an online platform. Let's do what we can to take care of each other.
