Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation continues to be good fiscal stewards of taxpayer dollars by maintaining the lowest property tax rate in St. Joseph County. For 2024 the rate will stay at 0.9275, which is the same rate as it was for 2023. Click here for more information.

Our second annual Sweets with Sweets event will take place on Valentine's Day from 4:00-5:30. We are looking for donations and volunteers to make the event a success. Come enjoy crafts, hot chocolate, and sweets with your student this Valentine's Day. Sign up genius for donations:

Please make sure you are sending winter coats to school with your children! We only have a few extra coats at Elsie Rogers for emergency purposes and we can not keep students inside due to teachers needing a duty free lunch and recess (unless they are on outside duty). The other issue is that our health aide must wash each item after it is worn for sanitary reasons so coat availability can be low or nonexistent. If winter wear is a hardship for your family, please reach out to the school.

Please note that we will be enrolling incoming kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year beginning January 16. If you need to register a student or know someone who does, please click on the button below as regitration is online. Should you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Maureen Donat mdonat@phm.k12.in.us as she can provide any guidance you may have. If you have supporting documentation that needs to be shared with our front office staff, our front office will remain open through June 7 from 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM, you can drop them off at Elsie Rogers. We will offer access to the breezeway for drop off.

You'll find the student attendance policy in the K-5 Student Handbook on pages 19-20. Please note the listed "good cause" reasons for absences. Family vacations are not automatically excused but will be considered for approval. Please email me at ccampbell@phm.k12.in.us or

jcramer-Berry@phm.k12.in.us at least 2 weeks in advance of a family trip to seek approval for the excused absence. There are NO excused family vacations during IREAD-3 or ILEARN (March, April and May).

We are monitoring attendance very closely this year as our school's attendance percentage from the sate has declined.

Our school start time is 8:40 am. Students may arrive as early as 8:25 am. Students arriving after 8:40 are considered tardy. Dismissal is 3:05 pm.

As part of the new Indiana law HB-1093, schools are limited to three days of eLearning. Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation will use, if warranted, three weather related days as needed throughout the year. If additional makeup days are required, they will be added to the end of the school year calendar. Principals will communicate with parents eLearning expectations and possible calendar adjustments throughout the year.
